Homesteading: A Woman's Journey | |
Got Caught Up TodayHello to all.Today has been my ""catch-up" day. On the days when Joe is home, I don't do much housework. We are usually so busy that I just do the basics and take care of the rest when he goes back to work. This morning, I got up abit early and cleaned the kitchen, livingroom and worked on laundry. By early afternoon, the house was looking as it should and I could begin to focus on other things. I am finally finishing up the head coverings that I have been wanting to get made. Some are for me, others for a friend in Florida. I am making the Jewish-styled Snoods. They are so comfortable and cover the hair very well. I find that I prefer to have my hair completely covered. I have a cover that allows alittle of my hair to show, but I usually wear it when working around the house. I find that I am enjoying the coverings. I am so glad that Joe is supportive of my decision to wear them. It was something that I wanted to do and spoke with him about. Abigail is finally back to her usual cheerful self. The effects from her shots last week have completely passed now. I feel so bad for her when she is recovering from the shots. It takes an entire week for her to feel good again and be able to eat without getting sick. This past week, I started mashing and pureeing the foods that I am cooking for our meals and feeding them to Abigail. She is doing great with it. There is a cup we were given, made by Nuby, that she drinks from. She likes the cup really well. During the day when she is up and active, I give her formula and her other drinks in the cup instead of using a bottle. At 6 months old, she now only takes a bottle when going to bed. This is going to make weaning her from the bottle so much easier later on. The cup has a very soft area on the lid and the leak-proof spout. In use, it works alot like a bottle, but the fluids come out alot faster and easier when she drinks. I have purchsed an additional Nuby cup to carry in her diaper bag. The new one is abit smaller so will be easier for her to hold onto. This morning, the temperature was in the mid-50's. I actually thought about lighting the kitchen stove to take the chill off the air. Abigail will be having to wear blanket sleepers at night now. This weekend, I will see if Joe will be able to check the chimney and maybe cut some firewood to fit the woodstove in the kitchen so that if the night gets too cold, I can light the stove and heat the rooms alittle. It is hard to believe that just a few weeks ago, we were still dealing with the hot temperatures. I am hoping to have time to have a fall garden. My squash plants are starting to bloom. With luck, I will get some veggies from them. Well, the day is waning and while Abigail is napping, I want to get going on my crocheting. I am making a prayer shawl right now. Also trying to make a thread crocheted edging on my linen hankies. Until next time...... Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 149 of 179 } { Next Page } |
