Homesteading: A Woman's Journey

I love Fridays!

I love Fridays.  That is the day when my beloved returns home after a long week working away from home.  Keeping busy during the week. caring for Abigail, the house and the critters plus doing whatever sewing and crocheting I am able to manage helps, but it never fully eliminates the empty feeling the house has when my beloved is away.  I find that the first day or so that he is gone are the hardest.  We miss him alot and we are getting used to his not being here.  By Wednesday though, the mood begins to change and I am doing things around the house to prepare for his coming home on Friday.

With Abigail being so sick and needing alot of extra cuddling this week, some of the household tasks were set aside.  This morning, I am getting everything caught up.  I hate to have to do alot of household chores when Joe is home.   I like to have the time free to spend with him and Abigail.

This morning, I took care of the critters, plus got all the laundry finished, ironed and put away.  I also cleaned the kitchen, livingroom and our bedroom.  I am now finishing up washing the fabric for my sewing projects so that they will be washed, ironed and ready to use.  I found out about 2 weeks ago at the local WalMart store that the fabric dept. will give you the cardboard cores that the fabric is rolled onto.  They keep the empty ones in a bin at the cutting table.   I am now collecting those whenever we go shopping there.  I am wrapping my fabric onto them after it is laundered & ironed so that the fabric will be easier to use and store.

I also have a batch of bread rising on the counter right now.   I am so grateful for the cooler temperatures we are having.  All through the summer when we were having the heatwave temps. I was unable to do any baking at all.  I am also baking some mini brownies/cookies for Joe to take on the truck with him next week.  I am baking them in a mini cupcake pan.  The pan makes cupcakes that are about bite-size.  Perfect for when my beloved is snacking while driving the truck!  You can also put cookie dough in the cups to make your cookies in the cupcake shape.  Alot faster than rolling them out!

Though Abigail's fever is gone, she is still cranky and not feeling too good.  She is doing alot better though than she was early in the week.  Now, we are mainly dealing with her waking up alot during her sleep and wanting held constantly when she is awakes.  Her feedings are going better though.  She has held down her formula for 2 full days now.  This weekend I will start her back up on the baby food.

I am going to get back to the baking and preparations now.  I want the house to be filled with the scents of fresh baked bread and cookies when my beloved returns home.  As is usual, I won't be online during the days when he is home.  We are being blessed with an extra day this weekend.  Since Monday is a holiday, he will not have to go back to work until late Monday night or Tuesday morning.  That is going to spoil all of us!  No complaint here though.  We enjoy every moment we can get.

It is always a blessing to come home and see the two greatest girls in the world, my lovely wife and my addorable little princess. Hon, you and Abigail are both the greatest blessing the Lord has ever given me and I thank God every night of every day for bringing us together. Every weekday I look forward to coming back home to you and it is what keeps me going. I love you both very much and always miss you two while I'm gone. But always remember...I carry your love with me while I am gone and know that I'm in your prayers and you are in mine. Therefor, you are always with me in my heart.

Love Always,
Your Beloved

P.S. Hon...

I Love You.
