Today's happenings

Hello.  What a busy few weeks around here!!  The little puppy isn't so little anymore but he's still just as cute!

The first part of this week we spent in Tulsa with my sister Vicki. That was a really great time. While at my sister's house, I started cutting out another quilt (number 4 I think). Hey Vicki,  haven't  worked on it since I was there! Not enough time or inspiration YET!

The younger two kids (Jacob age 12 and Hannah age 9) asked me to home schooling them.  I had home schooled the oldest for several years ( 1st thru 7th grades) and stopped when I had to change my work and family schedule.  She is now a Jr. in high school and NOT interested in being homeschooled again, however is very supportive of her siblings being homeschooled.  This has lifted a heavy weight off my shoulders. My mother is even supportive (HUGE SURPRISE)  Of course, Vicki has also been homeschooling her three for several years.  While I feel the kids have learned a lot in public school,  they have learned A LOT (if you know what I mean).  Hannah wants to start immediately (while still in public school) and Jacob wants to start after the summer is over.  Still haven't quite figured out how the whole scheduling thing is going to work with me working 7-3 5 days a week at the hospital (no special schedules).  If anyone has any ideas please let me know!!

We will be using Rod and Staff (what I started out with and still like the best) for our curriculum.  There is a WONDERFUL used curriculum store in Tulsa run by a woman named Sue.   Sue helped me when I was homeschooling before and was happy to help again years later, and we got almost all we need for the first year!!

We are still trying to decide where to put the garden and what to put in it.  Yes, I know I need to get it going soon, but I'm having a hard time with the placement.  I'm sure I'll plant potatoes, okra, green beans and corn.  I guess that's a start.  I also have been planning on doing some landscaping around the house (My in'laws tell me I have too much planned to do it all in one year) but hey a girl can dream can't she?!

Started working on making knitted dish cloths. I'm making them on # 3 bamboo needles.  I was using # 2, but it was too tight.  It is a really simple pattern just knit every row.  For fun, I'm using verigated yarn-in pastel colors.

For a couple of years now, I have been making a crochet afghan for my son.  It is made using the camo verigated yarn.  I need to change it AGAIN as a friend of ours just gave him a king-sized bed and he would like it to fit.  Maybe, I'll just crochet 2 twin sized ones and sew them together - I'll have to think on that one!!

I hope everyone has a God-filled and God-blessed week!  I know I have (especially being able to take a week off during Spring Break to spend with the kids).  What a mighty God I serve!!!

Staci,
I haven't worked on either of my quilts yet! We went to Hobby Lobby and I picked up the afghan kit. I'm working on making the yarn into balls right now. We're staying home tomorrow (I think) and so I'll be finishing Dallas' quilt then.
I was going to talk with you about getting seeds or seedlings while you were here and I forgot. We may just plant a few things in containers for right now and I need to get the bulbs in the ground as they're sprouting!
Tell the kids hi!
Vicki
