The Homestead Way of Life

THIS WAS HARD!

You are all so funny!  Who says the country life is boring?!

Wow, I had such a hard time deciding.  But, I have to admit, one of the very first comments is the one that got me.

Drum Roll, please.....

HisIrishGem - Rebecca Shearer won with the line:

If your "idea of entertainment" is coercing your husband to touch the Hot wire fence to see if it's working....You are a Homestead woman

I just got an instant mental picture on that one!  Our poor husbands...they are always the ones who have to do the tough stuff, aren't they.  Like, "Honey, I think this cheese has gone bad, will you please taste it and tell me?"  You know, that kind of stuff.

Anyway, Rebecca has won a complementary one year subscription to my newsletter - New Harvest Homestead - and a pretty wheat sheaf grown right here!  Congratulations, Rebecca!

And, speaking of the newsletter - my September/October issue just came out!  Come visit my website - NewHarvestHomestead.com - for more details and a free introductory issue!

Thank you to all you great ladies who participated in my little contest!  What a great bunch you are!

Lisa

I don't win much so this was quite a surprise! Thank You so much!

My poor husband! I only had to try that once and he never did it again! Haha

You should hear the story of when I first cut His hair with the clippers. Poor guy just goes through so much! But I'm so glad that He loves me through it all.

Thanks again! I'm so excited!

Rebekah

So funny!

I had a friend trick me into touching a hot wire, and it wasn't fun - but she sure got a kick out of it...

Thanks for posting such a funny entry; it deserved to win!

Oh Patti

No, it's not usually fun for the receiver! But it sure is a laugh for the person who suggests it. My mom when she was younger chased my dad and his brother with a cow prod. Which if you know anything about them, they too have quite a jolt! Haha

I think the best ways to pass time around here can be without money. Doug and I are always pranking each other and I think the laughter brings us so much closer. Though after the slight pain.Haha

Thanks again!

New to blogging...

I found out about New Harvest Homestead last night and then found this site. Today I was thinking about this, I know the contest is over, but thought I would share. If you take hot water buckets from your bathtub out to the washing machine (in the shed) to have a warm or hot wash...you are a Homestead woman!

About Me

The word "homestead" literally means to be steadfast at home. My joy would be to encourage other Christian women to rejoice in the home-centered life, instead of buying into the cultural norm of the mother who is constantly on the go. I publish the New Harvest Homestead newsletter for those who love, growing and preserving food, crafting, homekeeping, backyard flocks, Titus 2 fellowship and all other aspects of the homestead life. Email me at newharvest@gotsky.com to get a free introductory issue!
