A Glimpse of the Glory of God

I just came inside after doing a few evening chores.  I watered the tomatoes I planted this afternoon, along with the lettuce and summer squash.  I check the henhouse to see what the ladies have left me for the day.  I love the feel of a soft, warm egg rubbed against my cheek. 

It is so quiet outside at this time of day.  The sweetly lilting song of the thrush always fills the air at dusk.  As I take down the laundry from the line it sings its evensong just for me it seems.  I look toward the west and the setting sun.  The clouds shine all pink and orange with the waning light.

There is a point at which a sponge can absorb no more water.  I feel like that right now.  I am surrounded by so much beauty and blessing, I simply go numb with trying to take it all in.  To think that I know and have precious fellowship with the Creator of all this glory - He is my Father, my Savior, my Friend and the Lover of my Soul.  Like David, all I can say is "...such knowledge is too high for me.  I cannot attain to it."

This is a mere taste of the goodness of the Lord, these peaceful moments.  I think heaven, in part, will be a place where we can see, hear, smell, feel and know the goodness of God within every molecule of our beings.  I long for that day.  But, in the meantime, I savor these moments when I can enjoy even a  glimpse of His glory.

What a beautiful word picture you have created! It takes my breath away just listening, I can't imagine what you felt being in the presence of it all. It sure does make me realize what I take for granted!
