The Homestead Way of Life

Steadfast at Home

We are finally enjoying sunny weather here in the Pacific Northwest.  I hung the first load of laundry of the year today.  I cannot fully express the sense of peace and joy I have as I stand out there in the warm, soft breeze.  My hens cackle and chat at me as I move down the line.  The pine trees behind me whisper and the sparrow's sweet song hangs in the air.

The kids and I made a foray down to the river.  There were wild green onions all over the river bank.  They are the sweetest, mildest onions I've ever tasted and I grab a bunch to take home.  The girls pick wild sweet peas on the way home- heaven must smell something like those little yellow flowers.

I finally got to mow our supernaturally overgrown lawn.  My Jack Russell terrier got lost in it a few times lately!  There's another really sweet smell - freshly mown grass.  I will be busy baking loaves of bread later.  What a blessing it will be to be able to open the kitchen window and let them cool there!

This simple, home-centered life is so very full and rich.  I wish I could inspire every woman I know to slow down and enjoy all the treasures the Lord has to offer in His abundant creation and in our homes.

You can't enjoy this kind of peace and quiet, nor can you plant, harvest, preserve, bake, and be productive in your home if you are never even there two days in a row!

Slow down, simplify, prioritize and streamline.

The homestead life means steadfast at home.

our young mothers of this day need to slow down and enjoy the blessings of womanhood. God chose us to raise His children and make a home for our families. Nothing could be a more wonderful privilege. We hurry around and get to little done in our modern society.

I love your admonition to

"Slow down, simplify, prioritize and streamline."

Pearls of wisdom indeed.

God's blessings on you, yours and the work of your hands,

Sandra

I am agreeing with you. Today as I have my laundry also ready to hang. My children doing their schoolwork here at home and bread ready to be baked. I am filled with JOY that I am able to be steadfast at home. Enjoy your God blessed day!

Andrea

About Me

The word "homestead" literally means to be steadfast at home. My joy would be to encourage other Christian women to rejoice in the home-centered life, instead of buying into the cultural norm of the mother who is constantly on the go. I publish the New Harvest Homestead newsletter for those who love, growing and preserving food, crafting, homekeeping, backyard flocks, Titus 2 fellowship and all other aspects of the homestead life.
