Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women.

 --Ronald Reagan

Freedom prospers when religion is vibrant and the rule of law
under God is acknowledged.

      -- Ronald Reagan

But the Day is past. The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. - I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires, and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.

You will think me transported with Enthusiasm but I am not. - I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure, that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. - Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the End is more than worth all the Means. And that Posterity will tryumph in that Days Transaction, even altho We should rue it, which I trust in God We shall not.

I've just added a link to "Operation Birthday Cake".   Purchase one Freedom Cake and One Soldier will recieve a birthday cake of their own FREE while they're serving overseas.  Celebrate YOUR FREEDOM over the summer by splurging on a cake to make a soldiers day away from their families.

Each cake is gourmet made with the finest Ingrediants including a message made of belgian chocolate.

******If you can't afford to purchase a cake in full, please think about donating a dollar or two to the cause in honor of our veterans who have been fighting for our freedoms and whom could use some encouragement and joy on their birthday.

Happy Independence Day

I admit I am a very frugal shopper and constantly on the look out for bargains..I try hard to be a good steward of what the Lord gives us.....I was kinda bored today so dd and I decided we would go to a thrift store in a nearby town and just see what they had, we had never been there before...Low and behold it was great(if ya like thrift stores) I found some wonderful bargains below is a list of what we found..

1 denim skirt for me 3.00

1 dressy type skirt for me 3.00

3 very nice blouses for me 2.00 each

1 dressy skirt and blazer for dd 5.00

1 skirt for dd 3.00

2 tops for dd 2.00 each

1 t-shirt for dd 2.00

1 old type ice cream maker the one that you have to hand crank...this one even has the wooden paddles inside 8.00

1 pitcher for milk 4.00

1 pair of sandles for me 3.00

All of the clothing look brand new and the best thing is the proceeds go to support the local battered womens shelter! It is so hard to find nice modest clothing anymore but I have found thrift stores are great places to find them at very good prices!

Our little red cochin hen is still setting and hatching eggs...I have never seen them hatch like this...we have 4 so far and she is still setting...they are hatching 1 a day or so...It still never ceases to amaze me how God can take an egg and create an wonderful living, breathing little chick...or how we can plant a seed in the dirt and it brings forth life and food we can consume...God is surely amazing and we are blessed to live on this little place we call a homestead and watch the miracle of Gods creations!

One of the things I love in life is free or near free...if you are willing to take the time to look you can find some great free or almost free resources...there are website out there that charge money for you to access websites offering free worksheets etc...however you can find them easily on on your own using several search engines and some time...I will be posting at least weekly some really nice resources you can use for your homeschool, you may or may not find them useful since each homeschool is different....but they will be here for you use...

The first resource I want to post is from Teacher Created Resource I love their items and also these free calendars, they are a great starting point for a short lesson daily!

  • Here are a couple of websites with free worksheets that we use rather often. These are great worksheets!

  • Sewing and such

I have been a sewing maniac lately.  I had a few stitches to finish up on a wedding gift that I finished a few days ago... My Mom has her 50th birthday party coming up Saturday and there are a few odd and end projects in my head.  Here is the wedding gift.  Pillowcases that just say newly married to me...
I enjoyed these pillowcases because I adore French knots, and these had several. Woohoo!
I am totally in love with my newest project... it is something I am making for my Mom, and I think it is just grand.  From time to time she reads my blog so I am hesitant to post a picture... I will after I am finished and I give it to her.
I am going to be making some jam today and will be helping my sister move later on... so I must run, it is late and I am behind... I stayed up WAY too late sewing last night.  Have a Terrific Thursday.
