Almost ready for Thanksgiving!
God must know I'm going to be eating like a pig cuz my workouts have been 'boot camp' style!LOL BUt that's good. Laundry is done and SHOULD be dry by tomorrow. The onions and celery are ready to saute for the dressing. The sweet potatoes are ready to boil as well. We'll get the leaf in the table and move furniture as soon as Mat is done w/school. I found all the paper goods (I bought Thanksgiving stuff in bulk one yearL!OL) and have plenty and will drag the crock pots out in a bit. I need to find out how many the rest of hte family is bringing so I know what can go where.
That leaves mainly peeling 10lbs of potatoes for tomorrow. DH does the bird so that's off my hook. The rest of the stuff is mainly dump, mix heat and toss into crock pots to stay warm until ppl arrive.;)
Do you have your seed catalogs yet?

Sitting here at my computer, my toes turning blue, I hear the sweet peeps of baby chicks. It's a wonderful springtime sound. But I know it's not spring. It's not even Christmas. And the only reason they're down in the basement is because it got so cold in the coop,, Mama couldn't keep them warm anymore. We only have 4 of 14 left.
Last Monday, guess what came in the mail? Yep, my first seed catalog. Nope, it's not too early. My Johnny's catalog came and I've already made out my order. Then yesterday, my Nichol's catalog came, so I'm comparing prices, etc. Looks to me like the prices have gone up again. I saved some seeds from last year's plants, but cabbage, carrots, beets, these are hard to save seeds from. Need to give them two years and I have a hard time doing that.
I suppose I should keep my mind on finishing Christmas gifts. But the sun is shining, the chicks are peeping, my seed catalogs are sitting on the table. Ahh...hope springs eternal. If it weren't for all of the frost on the windows and my blue toes, I could just about think it's spring!

To Fear or To Fear Not?
by Faith Noles
The week following this 2008 presidential election has left many feeling as if they have just walked through a cold mortuary filled with the post mortem remains of a once beautiful and blessed America. I’ve seen the solemn expressions of prophecy teachers and anointed preachers who have spoken since the election. I’ve seen the down cast faces of faithful believers who have passionately prayed for the healing and redemption of this nation. Many are disheartened and may even feel as if God has not heard their prayers.
David Wilkerson wrote in his book, God’s Plan To Protect His People In The Coming Depression that “Every serious follower of Christ has to realize America deserves the full fury of God’s wrath”. History is filled with examples of God’s judgment upon wicked nations. With the election of Obama, Christians in America see the ‘writing on the wall’ and know that God’s judgment on America is right at hand.
I do believe that America is about to be judged. However, God wants to remind His children that He is still on the throne. Billy Graham once made the statement “God is unchanging in His love. He loves you. He has a plan for your life. Don’t let the newspaper headlines frighten you. God is still sovereign; He’s still on the throne.” God has not changed. Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Malachi 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I change not.” None of the events of this old sinful world has taken God by surprise.
Multitudes of people are making preparations because they expect hard times are on the way--storing food and water; buying guns and ammunitions, etc. What preparations, if any, should we as Christians be making? Christians should be preparing their hearts. In Luke 21:28, Jesus tells the disciples “...then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh”. If you’re a backslidden Christian or if your love for Jesus has grown cold--then beloved, it is high time to get right with God. James 4:8 “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” My mother used to use the term ‘straddling the fence’ when she talked about lukewarm Christians. Brothers and sisters look around you and open your eyes. Romans 13:11 “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed”. It’s time to get off the fence! Stand up and be the man or woman of God that He would have you be.

We have a channel on our Satellite called RFD-TV--its rural televison and I have recently discovered it airs the show Hee Haw--anyone remember that? Maybe I am just giving away my age--LOL--Anyway we have been watching it as a family as it comes on--We watched it last night--an episode from 1969(yes I was alive back then)-- the humor was clean--the prop was simple--the singing meant something--and it was good clean fun--I long for that simpler time--back then no one had heard of a drive by except to say--"I drove by and saw ya on the porch'"-- Going out to eat was something that was a treat--women still for the most part stayed home to raise the youngun's they had--people still wrote letters back home--I remember every Saturday my mom sitting at the kitchen table writing a letter to her mom and letting her know we were all ok since we lived in Dodge City Kansas and my grandma lived back here in Arkansas--We lived on a farm and my dad was a farm hand and worked the farm for rent--People barely had phones and televisions--little lone gaming machines, computers and all the other gadgets we have today--and you know what--people worked harder--work meant something--very few back then got to sit on their bums all day and push a pencil--people worked hard--Technology has brought about changes since the 1960's--some good and some bad--some I enjoy--some we as a family choose to not allow into our lives--some have a purpose--some really don't--I would love just one week to step back into that time and bask in the simplicity of it all--yes it was harder in some ways--but it was also a time when families enjoyed being together--and Sundays were the Lords day--not just another day off work or school to sleep in--I know I cannot turn back the hands of time--but I can sit here and enjoy those old nostalgic shows like Hee Haw, I love Lucy--Brady Bunch--and take a trip down memory lane and if only in my own mind --for a moment recapture a simpler time!

Although, in crew, the official regatta season isn't until spring, we enjoy several events in the fall too. The latest of these was the "Head of the Hooch" regatta in Chattanooga, TN.
We had the most beautiful, perfect, weather for the event, and in addition to watching the races, were able to enjoy seeing some fall color (which is a real treat for us Floridians), grilling salmon and steaks outdoors for the team and their families, getting in some hiking time, and even visiting a museum located on the waterfront.
What a great weekend!

Our son's boat - as it passes under the bridges and approaches the finish line.

Hello Everyone. I hope everyone is cozy and asleep. lol. DS is getting up at 3am most mornings. Not really up, more like crying a little and going back to sleep. Any suggestions would help. I check on him and he is back to sleep most nights.
The other night I was sleeping away. I was dreaming of shopping at CVS. I was comparing prizes of pencils. Over the intercom, my ds's voice tells me, "Mommy, I done sleeping now." I am still dreaming but I know the voice isn't right. Something isn't right. DS is suppose to be home asleep because I was shopping by myself. I quickly wake up and my ds is standing beside my bed telling me that he was done sleeping. It was 3 in the morning. Anyhow, I explained to him that it was night time and he had to go back to bed. Cute child. Love him. Hope everyone has a blessed, sleepful night. I

Giving Thanks
O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.
Psalm 117:1
When did you last take time out to really thank God for the many wonderful things He has done for you? Wives, do you really thank God for your husband, or do you take him for granted? Stop and think what a blessed wife you are. You and your husband are Christians.
What a blessing that you can rest assured of your husband’s whereabouts. You can tell others where he is, and he goes where he says he will go.
More than that, you have someone you can look up to. Always remember to pray for your husband. It is always a comfort to me whenever I get home from work and I hear my wife say, “I prayed for you today.”
Husbands, have you thanked God for your wife lately, even today? Sometimes we take them for granted. Do not forget that she is not your slave, but your wife. Ask yourself what you would amount to if it were not for your wife. Really, what kind of man would you be? Brethren, God gave them to us. Let us be thankful for God’s blessings and really appreciate them.
Parents, when was the last time you stopped to thank God for your children? The Bible says that children are a heritage from the Lord. Children are really fun to have around. But sometimes we find ourselves sighing over them. Why is he or she like this? Why can’t they be like so and so’s children? Let us not allow these evil thoughts into our minds but instead give God thanks and praise for our children. Pray earnestly for them. Let us be godly role models for them.

This is SOOOO Funny!
This week I have had a lot of unusal posts…but this one HAS to be shared! Here is what happened when I ventured out late this evening with Eric.
Ok this is so funny…but it probably isn’t as funny as if we had caught it on camera.
Eric stays up with me tonight because I knew I was going to make a late night Wal Mart run for some things for Fresh Gear for the tournament. We get our shopping done and I decide to treat him to a late night Wendy’s run for some drinks. We get there, and sound like a bunch of drunks because I am muttering “What if they have a limited nighttime menu?” and Eric is going “What do you care…we are only getting drinks. Like they are going to say, hey sorry lady we only serve regular coke after midnight…and you have to have it with ice.”
