Brrrrrrrrr!! Thursday, January 31, 2008

Good morning everyone.  Hope all are well and thawed!  Well, a warm up was suppose to happen tonite (Wednesday night) . A balmy twenty below zero! Yup, that's right, a warm up!! Was it cold yesterday then toss in the wind chills and we were looking at sixty below with the wind! Brrrrrrrr. Had a ton of snow and drifting Tuesday night as well. On Tuesday, in a matter of 12 hours the temp dropped 56 degrees.

I didn't come to work Tuesday night. Monday I was misserable with that flank pain but the DO had not only called in the antibiotics but also some pain meds (God bless him!). The pain meds helped some - took the edge off anyway. Tuesday I was feeling a little better but then in the afternoon the pain started edging it's way back to real bad again. By 1430 the ibuprofen wasn't working so I broke down and took a pain med then called in to work. Right now I'm about where I was Saturday when It all started. Uff da!!!! I had thought of coming in Tuesday but we had an awful snowstorm and freezing temps (that I'll explain later) and then there's the fact that I'd have had to drive myself and there's nothing they could give me for the pain unless I stayed. So I gutted it out. As I said, I wasn't rolling on the floor but was very uncomfortable.

My diet has been "light". I've been munching on raw carrots, green beans squash (ok, that I cooked LOL), apples, pears and grapes. I've opened a couple jars of soup but am not hungry.  Haven't done much in the way of cleaning and organizing all week either. I feel bad getting behind but it's not like I chose for this to be right now. Sigh..... "this too shall pass"...... LOL Get it??? Sorry, just a bit of wry humor. Where's Musketman when you need him??

Boy was it awful cleaning out all that snow in the cold and blowing wind. I wasn't picky for the first time all year. The wind kept whipping the snow and drifting so I made sure the end of the driveway was clear and the big drifts.  Taffy, who usually enjoys being outside, stayed right by the house on the steps all curled up in a ball to keep warm. I tried to put her in but she wouldn't go unless I went in to stay - Uff da that dog!

I've been trying to plan out my gardens and evaluate last year's choices. Boy, I'm just itchin to get my hands dirty. I'm making a new one in front if I don't sell it first. We'll play by ear but I need to plant something. Hopefully all will grow well at my father's place and the critters will leave things alone.  Dad and I share the love of gardening but we each have our own ideas on how to do it. I dont' believe in pesticides or fertilizers unless totally organic and he, well....... let's just say we've agreed to disagree LOL. It is afterall his garden space so I try not to argue. I suggest things. "You know dad, I read where....." or "jee whiz, you know I've had good luck by....." That kind of stuff. I don't always win, but if I can show him the article or book where I found the info then I usually "win" LOL.

Well, I've got to go move around. Sending love and toasting those fuzzies!!! I've just set a fresh pot of coffee to brewing so help yourself.. My EMT"s ate all the cookies but I think I've some fresh (well 10 hours old fresh) biscuits and wild honey left. Mmmmmm.

See everyone tonite - God willing!

Michele
