It's beginning to smell a lot like Christmas......

Am taking a quick break. What a day thus far!! I am soooooo very blessed. My mother stopped by late this morning while I was letting the mixer cool down. It's not that old but my daughter dropped it some time ago and bent the knob and it hasn't worked well since. If I don't do a huge amount of baking or use it for bread dough I get by. Have been thinking about a saving envelope for a new one but weighed the need vs. want and decided it was more of a want. Anyway, in her arms was a brand new Kitchen Aid!!! Not the delux model but who cares?!?!? Just what I needed to get thru the bake frenzy I'm in. I'm in heaven so to speak. It works great and the stollen dough turned out awsome. Many thanks to her!! I don't know what made her do that as she doesn't buy gifts for us anymore but am sure thankful she did!!!
Ever start cleaning and find things were more dirty than you thought?? I scrubbed my kitchen floor this morning and it was disgusting!! Now I'm not saying my house is picture perfect, but jeeze, after two buckets of water I finially had a clean floor. Uff da! Wonder what else I'll find. I've picked up a cheap daily calendar and have started a "daily routine" and borrowed a zone cleaning schedule from one of you.... please forgive me but at the moment I've forgotten who. I worked out January to see how it goes and what if anything needs tweaking to fit my schedule. Hopefully that will help keep me organized and not get so far behind on some things.
I've been looking into yurts - they are a cross between a tipee and a tent. Sturdy, cozy albeit a "tad" small. Considering it'll be just Taffy and I (and Darla kitty) I think as a temporary home it'll work. I could put it up on the land my dad has, work a couple acres until I am financially cought up and find a nice small home closer to work (or land and just put the yurt back up there). Giving it serious thought and a lot of checking into zoning laws and such for our area. Things are sooooo confusing but when I get more info I'll check with some of the local builders and see if they know anything about it. So far I'm liking the idea. As I said, they are small (the largest being about 650 sq ft.) but with a little creativity it could work. You can wall it off as much or little as you like, put up a loft (which I would consider and use it for pantry storage), electric or no, plumbing or no, solar, whatever..... as temporary or permanant as you want to set it up as. I'd go semi-permanant as I'm figuring it'll be a couple years until I can move again.
Well, back at the baking. Have a great evening everyone!!!
