Good evening everyone. Whew, what a busy day. All said, I'm totally done with my Christmas shopping and making gifts!!! Wahoo!!

Took Taffy to the Vet for her shots this morning. Man, who needs to go work out after that?? LOL The girls and the Vet say she's the only dog they know who comes in and treats them like long lost friends. She barks and gets soooo excited. Rolls over for the belly scratch, wimpers and whines for them to "give her love". She's actually very good for them until they monkey with her ears. She doesn't like them to check them. She has very narrow ear canals and it hurts when they try to look with the light. She's a little on the heavy side at 84 pounds so will be making some minor diet adjustments. Lower her amount of kibble and mixing either pumpkin or no salt added green beans with it. The addition will help her feel full longer without the calories. Also, with the dry winter weather her skin itches something awful (poor baby). The Vet suggested mixing a moisturizing doggy conditioner with water in a spray bottle, parting her hair, spritzing it on her skin where it itches and rubbing it in. She says it works for her dogs. Anything to help Taffy out. I've some great Conditioner from Foster and Smith  http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3307+12558+12539&pcatid=12539 it's a moisturizing conditioner with almond scent in it that really helped her this summer. I'll give it a try and let you know how it works.

Last night my daughter sang the National Anthem solo for the High School wrestling match. She was nervous but did well. Her chorus director asked her to do it again tonite for the Girls Basketball game and twice tomorrow for the Swim Meet. I told her to feel honored and do her best and she wouldn't fail.

Well, many prayers of thanks are being sent up to God on this day!! My brother was coming home from Chicago last night, got to Madison, WI and ran into bad weather and roads. The person in front of him started to fish tail and when my brother tried to stop, found he was on glare ice and couldn't stop. He ended up rolling the company van three times. Thank God he decided that last night was one of the rare times to wear his seat belt (my family is terrible that way and I'm constantly nagging them). Saved his life. Other than some bad bumps, bruises, a sore neck and nasty bump on his head and a very bad headache to go along with it all, he's going to be ok - Thank God!! My SIL and nieces are very thankful as well. Uff da, to think how it could have ended makes me shudder. Sometimes it's not good that I work in an ER. I know all to well and the possibilities run thru my mind. Scares me to death.

Tomorrow I get to babysit my 10mo old niece. My other brother and SIL are going to pick up my SIL's new horse. My nephew will be staying at a friend's house. I'm going there as all her toys and things are there. She'll be more comfortable in her own home and won't have to be woken up late at night when they get home. They'll leave the car seat for me in case I need to go some where. I see it as a very oportune time to relax (for the most part as she's crawling) as she still takes a couple naps and goes down for the night by 7pm. After that, time is mine.  I'll bring a book and maybe some scrapbooking things so I can work on my cookbook pages. They have movies that I want to see AND cable. Food Channel here I come LOL. I canceled our cable about 6 years ago when DD's grades when downhill. Never have missed it except for the holidays. I love the Food Channel holiday specials about gingerbread houses and other things.

Sunday I get my Christmas tree. I'm looking forward to it. I have old fashioned ornaments and cinnamon ornaments that smell soooo good - even after 3 years. Cinnamon and Pine.... nothing like it - except maybe fresh cut cedar.

Well, I've been searching high and low for my Muppet Christmas Carol movie and can't find it. I'm so distraught LOL. It's my favorite movie aside from It's a Wonderful Life. I've made a comprimise and put in The Polar Express. I love Christmas. Little Women is up there too - oh, I know it's a year round one but I save it for Christmas.
