Oh happy day - We've added an extra hour to our shift here at work LOL. Ok, so we're not really laughing but hey, gotta take the icky with the good.
My niece won her hockey games yesterday. I went to the afternoon one to lend my cheering voice and support. I'm a "bit" entheuseastic but she appreciates the effort. She has another game today at 3:45 so I'll be able to attend that one as well.
I informed my family I was doing a home made Christmas this year. Well, that pretty much went over like a ton of bricks LOL. They don't get it although my nieces are psyched at the thought I'd be willing to make them each a quilt. I warned them that if it's something they expect to be pretty and perfect DON"T ask me to sew it LOL. They are sweet girls and are getting into the idea. The rest..... well ,my mother reminded me NOT to do anything for the adults as "We only buy for the kids." She doesn't get it. It's not about the gift or the "need" for buying something. It's simply I enjoy giving - I enjoy using the talents that God gave me and sharing them with my family and friends. I don't much care what they think, I felt awful the last couple years. My daughter opens the gifts I give her then looks around and asks if that's it. I say yes then she says "ok, we can go to grandma's now". I get nothing. Now she's a very talented writer and I've asked her time and time to write me a story or take a picture and frame it. Put together a little concert for me (she really has a beautiful voice) or whatever. Use a talent. She's not expected to go purchase something. Grrrr, it's frustrating because I'm having a hard time putting down what I'm thinking and feeling. I know it's not about gifts or the materialistic aspect. The best "present" I could get would be for one of them to come to church with me on Christmas Eve. That would be the "cat's meow" for me. Anyway, getting back to my original thought....... I'm making packages of favorite cookies and snacks, will attempt quilts for the girls as I have a ton of scraps and all the materials needed for such a project. My baby nieces will recieve hand painted ceramic ornaments (which I have a ton of also). About 7 years ago I started painteing a ceramic christmas village for my parents and have recently come across the church to the set. I'll be painting that up for them. I've some cross stitch patterns for cute teddy bears for the youngest niece's room. The 3 year old loves playing with barbies. I have an idea book with ways to make doll furniture from plastic canvas and other materials - jeeze, I just happen to have practically everything I need for that. My nephew stands as a challenge. That will take a huge chunck of thought process. He loves camping so am thinking of making some fire starters, write down recipes for his favorite camp foods (he loves camping with me and helping me cook), a laminated camping supply list (he's always calling and asking for mine), and a few other things such as a couple baggies of dehydrated fruits and granola. My daughter loves baking and is forever looking for recipes so I'm making her a cookbook scrapbook style. It's fun and really turning out nicely. I've been braiding old cotton socks that I've dyed into a rug for her room. If I have enough time. I'd like to make her some throw pillows and maybe a quilt as well. She's going to be suprised allright. I've a few other ideas as well - cinnamon christmas ornaments, I've a wonderful pattern for angles made from styrofoam cones, tea-dyed cheese cloth and liquid starch. They are so pretty - I made some for centerpieces for our church bazar a few years ago and they were a hit. I'm toying with the idea of making up a box of variety holiday decorations. Yup, yup, it's a good plan in my book. I have pretty much everything I need for all those things listed (ok, except a ton of time LOL) and many have already been started. The cookies and snacks I make anyway for our family get together Christmas day so will box up each persons particular favorite from what I don't put on the platter. That way I don't have a ton of cookies left over (which I can't eat anyway) and they all have plenty of their favorites.
Yesterday's dinner was leftover chicken and spuds. It tasted even better the second time. Not sure what's on the agenda for tonite. I may just heat up some soup and make grilled cheese after the game. Yup, sounds like a good plan to me. Nice and simple.
Well, it's time to get up and move around. I'm starting to feel sleepy. Have a blessed Sunday all. Love and Fuzzies!!

Does this imply that you get to leave an hour early one day in the spring?
I hope they at least pay you over-time wages for that extra hour tonight at work.

I am making some things for Christmas as well. I wish every one would get excited about making something. For many years now on Christmas eve we have a chinese gift exchange with my in laws. Where everyone brings a gift to put on the table. We pick numbers to see who gets to pick the gift first. You can chose any rapted gift you want. Anyway one year I suggested we all made something. Nobody went for that. When you take time to make something for someone it seems to come more from the heart. Looks like you got some neat ideas!! Have a great day.
