Beautiful Fall Day!! Thursday, 04 Oct 07

Morning everyone - been a while since I've been able to say that LOL.
Had my A1C drawn this morning. Don't know when I'll hear the results. I think my DO is on call tomorrow night so maybe when I go into work I'll find out - that is unless it's crazy off then he usually calls which is never a good thing. That means he wants to add a med - YUCK!! I HATE taking meds. Sigh...... whatever works I guess but for apperence sake, I'll put on a good groan or he'll think I've lost my mind LOL. I'm maxed out on my metformin so if things are bad he'll have to add something else. He already warned me about that. Uff da!
It's been beautiful here the last couple days. Yesterday sunny and in the 70's and same for today. Breezy tho. It's to hit almost 80 over the weekend and of course I have to work LOL. Oh well. Crazy weather is right. Unheard of in our neck of the woods for October. Yup, the trees are definately "stripping" Most in my neighborhood are bare. I'll fire up the mower for one last mulching a little later.
I ended up putting $1800 into the truck plus another $400 for tires. Uff da! That hurts. I'll have to go very STRICT on the budget for a while. Good thing I planned for most of it when I took out an extra loan a couple months ago. I hated to take out that loan - makes absolutely no sence to go deeper in debt to get out of debt but had no choice. A couple creditors were threatening court and that's the last thing I wanted. I couldn't afford attorney fees on top of all that so just went with a loan praying I can pay it off before the arranged time frame.
The soup turned out very good - I put the black beans, some great northern beans, onion and tomato in a chicken broth base. I had a bit of ham in the freezer so added that as well. Yummy. The cornbread turned out soooo good as well. I love the recipes ya all have for whole wheat/whole grain foods as well as the other good for us foods. I appreciate all who share - recipes as well as the way you live.

I'm sorry to hear about your diabetes issues. Is it super out of control? I take 2550 of Gluc (I'm not a diabetic--I can explain if you really want!LOL) and don't know that I'm allowed to go any higher. I know a lady w/diabetes and she is AWESOME. She is the most cheerful person I know! She's also blind and in a wheelchair from diabetes! It really makes me be glad and remind me to stay diligent so that I don't wind up w/full blown diabetes............
And I'm really enjoying your blog! I can't believe all the canning you do! And SCORE on that free meat! You cut it up yourself? I'd be soooooooooooo lost. We just picked up our pig (that we feed out) from the butcher!LOL I'd love for DH to learn to butcher, but we'd have to invest in a grinder and I"m not sure if that would pay it. It probalby would, but he's so busy this time of year that I don't see how we could possibly add a task that big to the calendar! I love hearing what all you do!
