Hello everyone. Stopped in at the library to check some things and thought I'd stop by.

Well, last week flew by. Between the cold and then trying to "catch up" next thing I knew it was Monday. Yesterday took the truck in for some serious work and got it back just a bit ago. $1700 later..... What hit hard was the total brake system overhaul that was unexpectedly needed. Uff Da!! The mechanic called yesterday to tell me the "news" and asked if I wanted it added, wait, or cancel something else. Since everything was a saftey issue, I had them just do it. It couldn't wait just like the four new tires I'll be getting shortly. Sigh....... Then, DD's glasses were badly broken and needed replacing. Jeeze, next???? Oh well, the Lord will provide - right???

Canned up 3 pounds dry black beans last night. I got 10 pints out of them plus some left to toss into the "mixed up soup" I'm making. It's just a little of this and a little of that thrown into broth. It's usually quite delish. Will also mix up some cornbread or muffins - whichever I feel like doing with the batter.

It's been a balmy fall the last couple weeks with temps in the mid to low 60's and wet. Not much sun but we are at half the moisture we normally get and all the lakes and rivers are seriously low. It's frightening and the farmer's almanac is predicting warm and dry for our region this winter - ok, part of me is thinking "ya, little snow to drive thru" but the practical side is mourning the lack of precipitation. Our fall color is peaked and most of my trees are close to bare. I can't believe the beautiful color on the ground. I picked up some yellow/orange maple leaves then some wine color ones, took the cardboard from some picture frames, placed the yellow ones first then centered the wine color one and framed them. Sure turned out nice and looks great on the wall for fall deco. Will do the same with pine this winter.

I'm lucky in that I've still got flowers in my gardens. Marigolds, snapdragons, most everything. I'm fearing it won't be long and that will be done as well.

Well, better go get those tires.  See everyone Friday night when I return to work!
