Good Morning friends!

Well, it's been a busy week and it's only Tuesday .  Last I posted was Friday morning. I was able to accomplish a bit of what I wanted. Saturday I cleaned out the "spare room" so daughter could move her bed and stuff down from the attic room. It was predicted to be in the mid to upper 90's and extreemly humid here and that upper room is unbearable when it gets like that. Uff da, what a chore! I had shoved so much stuff in there that you couldn't see an inch of floor! Shame on me!  I pulled out 9 economy size Heafty bags of garbage and boxes of stuff for the basement. Part of the problem was I had tried using the room as a pantry since it wasn't used for anything else. It kinda went downhill from there. I still need to go empty the closet for her but will probably tackle that on Thursday.

Yesterday I made some granola - yummy! I made a small batch of peanut butter granola but used cashew butter instead. Gave it a nice flavor. Also put some "peel-n-stick" linoleum on one corner of the basement so I could get the shelving up and organize a bit. It's the area I want to put my soaps and houme repair tools. The floor looks ok, the floor is over 50 years old and wasn't poured level and has a bunch of "dings" in it. I filled in the dings but the uneven part gave me a bit of trouble. It's a work in progress and it does look better and cleaner which is a huge plus. I'll keep pluggin along on it. I pick up a box or two when they are on sale and have at it. I keep a dehumidifier going which helps everything along. Also have a fan circulating the air so it's a nice cool place to work. My dinner was fresh steammed broccoli and green beans. They were sooooo good! Just a tad of butter and a pinch of salt or Mrs. Dash Garlic and I'm in heaven. Will pick up fresh corn on the cob this afternoon for dinner tonite.  It seems like a vegitarian week with all the veggies LOL.

I need to catch up on laundry this afternoon. I sorta got behind again - of course it didn't help I found a ton of cloths when I cleaned out the room. Go figure. Sigh.... as I said, a work in progress. Good news is that the hot and humid weather stayed west of us (sorry to all of you getting the icky weather). It was 77 and humid - 20 degrees cooler than anticipated. Hopefully will remain cooler today so I can get good sleep before tackling my chores. Even Taffy is happier in the cooler weather LOL.

I'm getting ready to head down to Diabetes camp on the 3rd. Have a spot reserved for Taffy at a very nice kennel. I hate leaving her but really have no choice. My mother doesn't like taking her very much and Nicole will be going to my Aunt and Uncle's for the week. I can't wait. I volunteer on the medical staff and it's so much fun. I'm responsible for working with an RN or LPN monitoring blood sugars and such for a cabin of 12.  We are all asigned to "work" activities - we carry around coolers with snacks for when the kids have lows and all the glucose monitoring stuff for when they feel the need to check. There are Med students staffed there as well. This year we will be doing education focused on nutrition. We'll work with the dieticians to work out an education program for the kids. The kids range from 8-17, 98% have insuline pumps going 24 hrs a day. We eat our meals with them but get to sleep in a different staff cabin. The Lions Camp regular staff takes care of them. We take turns doing night rounds (my favorite ) but generally have a lot of free time. Last year I blew out my ACL and Meniscus in my left knee and had to have surgery in September. Long and painful recovery. Guess I won't be playing basketball with the guys this year LOL.
