Good Friday Morning everyone!! Have been busy as of late with work and home chores. Weather has been... well, almost perfect. Have had nice sunny days along with some rainy days. Had one day of nasty wind which knocked down some trees but fortunately not by me. Have been looking after things at the folks while they are gone. My dad drives semi so when he had a run to California two weeks ago my mother decided to go with him. From there they took a load to Washington state and are now in Kansas.  They are expected home Sunday or Monday. My mother has had her fill of riding for a while LOL.

Yesterday I was at the folks assessing things and checking the garden. Everything looks great although there are a few nibbles on the corn so will have to powder with some cayanne pepper tomorrow.  Weeded a row and a half of corn and half row of carrots. Later today I'll have to go out and mow lawn and finish the last row and a half of corn and carrots. My niece has been taking care of the tomato plants for them and bringing in the mail for them. My brother lives just down the road so she walks up every day and takes care of things. I just go out every other day or so to make sure everything else is ok. The strawberries look great and the girls are picking them as well although I go thru after them and get what they missed so the chipmunks and other rascles don't get them LOL.  I baked chicken in the cast iron pot for supper then some chocolate chip cookies. I had made a batch then froze the dough - works nicely as I only bake up a dozen or so at a time because my daughter eats them mostly all at one sitting and doesn't need them if you know what I mean.

Taffy has been enjoying our walks then swim in the lake - she spends 45 min to an hour chasing the fish along the shoreline - soooooo funny!! Best therapy for a blue day that's for sure. I've also picked wild strawberries and made a batch of jam. I use the no sugar needed and use a little less than half of sugar than what the regular jam would need. Depends on what fruit I'm using but can usually get by with very little sugar compared to normal. I don't like overly sweet things and with the diabetes, shouldn't use that much. Last year I made some wonderful rhubarb/strawberry jam which my family gobbled up. The farm I pick at will be ready next week so that's another thing on my list. I'll pick a couple flats, dry one and make some more jam and a batch of sauce.

Well, I'd better go do some chores. Hope everyone has a great day. Sending out lots of warm fuzzies!!

Michele

I'm off this weekend except I agreed to work for my night partner Saturday as she needed the night off. No biggie, she worked last Satruday for me and I'm off this next week until Friday night. No real plans other than hopefully catch up on house chores.

Life sounds very full for you! We've been picking our strawberries, too. We could tells omething had been eating at them, though, but didn't know what. It turned out to be chipmunks for us, too, because a chipmunk ran out of the bed when the kids went near it. LOL Holly
