What a wonderful day in the neighborhood LOL. Seriously, yesterday was another beautiful day. Low 70's, breezy and mostly sunny. It did cloud up around 5pm tho. It's been a steady night - keeps me out of trouble. I'm currently snacking on Stonyfield Farm strawberry yogurt and graham crackers. Mmmmmm. Yesterday, Taffy and I went for a nice walk by my Dad's property and scoped out the "free" fruit scene. Strawberries are blooming nicely, blueberry bushes look awsome and the blackberry bushes in that area don't look to shabby either. If we continue getting bursts of rain and this nice weather, harvest of all three should be good. I wish I had access to apple and plum trees. When we were kids, my grandparents owned most of the land over that way. They had plums, grapes and apples along with chokecherry trees. they sold that piece of land to some "city goers" and they've fenced it all off with warning signs. Ya know, it gets my goat!!! I go walking with Taffy down roads that as a kid we'd bike and there'd be sporatic human life signs. Now, it seems all that land has been turned into "developements" with houses that cost $200,000 or more. Sad part is, the land is stripped, houses built and then sold to someone who uses them for the "second" vacation house!!! Then these people have the gall to complain about the deer, bear or other wild life, put up their fences and beg the DNR to do something about it. Here these folks are the ones invading and wasting the land, not the animals. They put in their lush green lawns which then they need riding lawn mowers to mow because gosh forbid they actually walk and push one and an even bigger gasp.... let's see them even toy with a push non electric, non gas mower. They have expensive exautic plants and shrubs (you know, the ones that belong in the southern states, not way up here) that the deer and rabbit seem to just love dining on, they cut down all the trees for non-edible gardens, spread posion pesticides and fertilizers all over the place, pave the driveways because of course we can't have a muddy, bumpy driveway, and last but not least, a huge garage or two to hold all of their "country toys". Whew!!! Sorry, I've been festering that all day and needed to get it off my chest. Today I'll of course take my "nap", make oatmeal cookies to bring in to work tonite, take Taffy out for our walk and if it gets warm enough, maybe a nice icy swim, and I've got to clean out the front coat closet. Dinner is going to be garlic chicken and stir fry veggies with fruit. Well, off to do chores and clean up the department. Ya all have a wonderful day.
