May Day!! 01 May 07

Happy May Day everyone! Hope all had a beautiful weekend. Our weather was wonderful - 70's and sunshine. My favorite temp range. I repaved my front walk. After 2 1/2 days of hard work, I hauled in a lot of sand from my folks hill, layed 275 brick and 80 lbs of play sand, I am now the proud owner of a new front walk! The best think is I can sit outside, look at it with the huge satisfaction that I did it all myself. No help what-so-ever. What a great feeling to accomplish such a feat. I am quite tired tho LOL. Gave a whole new meaning to the term "Uff da".
Well, if any of you have some extra rain that you don't want, you could send it up north here. Had cloudy afternoon with a sprinkle and the rest has stayed south of us. We are so dry - the dirt crumbles into dust clouds, lawns crunch, and fires are poppin out all over. Not as bad as others have or have had it but for us it's rough.
Did laundry this afternoon. I can't believe how 2 people can generate so much laundry. I try not to dirty so much but.... There's my scrubs for work, undies, then I was busy creating more dirty cloths this weekend, changed my sheets, the kitchen rags and towels, then DD had a ton of cloths she brought down - finally! Uff da that girl! I've asked several times for her not to let it accumulate like that.
I need to make another batch of laundry soap, going to try a new recipe for softener, need to make bread and granola. Am going to try peanutbutter granola this time. Mmmm. I'll mix up the bread this morning to let it rise while I nap, I've a 1300 appointment so should be risen by then to punch down and form, bake when I get home.
Our farmer's market opens the second week in June. I can't wait. It'll be nice to see folks again as well as obtaining my favorite fresh produce and a little bison. Am hoping the "goat cheese" lady returnes. I sure do miss her. She had the best goat cheese.
Well, expecting the ambulance shortly so better go get ready for the patient. God speed, love and fuzzies!!

And happy May day to you. You make me tired of all the work you did. I thought I do alot. On laying your walk did you put plastic or ground cover underneath for weeds just wondering?

Hi there. Thanks for visiting my blogg. I tried to respond on your blog but for some reason my computer wouldn't let me. What I did (and have had very good luck with this in the past) for weed control was lay about 2-2 1/2 inches of compacted "base sand" which is a coarser compactable sand. After I lay the brick over that, I use a stiff push broom and push fine play sand into the cracks and crevices. Wet it down and after it dries, do it again. Repeat until the cracks are filled with the play sand. I've not had a problem with weeds yet.
