Good Sunday Morning everyone! Uff da, busy night here. It was crazy until 0400. Had an absolute beautiful day again yesterday. Up into the 70's. I've been working in my back yard pulling up sumac. Friday I trimmed up my old pine tree that was in desperate need of a "hair cut". I ended trimming out 6 feet high up to the trunk of dead stuff. Uff da the dust and debris that I kicked up. Sure looks nice now. I've created a huge extra space there now. I just can't believe the difference. It needed to be done before I bought the place 5 years ago and I just never had the heart to do it. I hate pruning trees - I'm afraid I'll kill them. I know it's for the best as I'm sure there were bugs and diseases waiting to feast on that poor tree. As far as the sumac battle, it stil rages on. 50-55% of my back yard is sumac weeds and the other is another kind of weed - a viney sort of thing. This too needed to be done prior to my buying the place but wasn't taken care of. I should have done it but haven't taken the time. I am now tho. It's a battle I'm determined to win!!
Yesterday I slept until 1:00 (I worked Friday night), had my coffee, finished up at church then battled the back yard until 7pm. I had set out to make some oatmeal raisin cookies but never got to it. Had pizza for supper - much to my daughter's happiness. She's just lucky I had a crust in the freezer already pre-baked and ready to go. Today I'm planning to go to church after work, then sleep. If it's nice when I get up, I'll hit the back yard again. If it's raining, I'll bake cookies - Pray for rain LOL! It's suppose to rain late tonite which will be good. We are very dry here - a couple grass fires popped up this weekend. Very scary.
Tomorrow will be laundry day. I'm once again getting low on laundry soap so will have to make a batch. I'll sure be glad when I get the last of my daughter's laundry caught up. Amazing what she's found cleaning her room!! I've also pulled out our summer cloths - unbeknownst to me she had rifled thru them sometime this winter and didn't put the covers on the bins. The cats have been sleeping on them - cat hair and dust are all over them so I have to wash them. I also need to change sheets. My folks will be gone this week so I will make use of their cloths line. Mmmmm, I can smell them already!
I need to make out my menu too. I'm needing to clean out the outside freezer so I can unplug it and clean it up. Whatever is in there will be used this week. I'm going to can the venison that's over a year old and "borrow" space in the folks freezer until I'm done cleaning mine. This week I'll need to refil my water bottles with fresh water from the folks. You'd think living in town the water would be good but since the contamination we had a couple years ago, the chemicals are so strong I can't drink it. I've never used it for baking bread or anything "yeasty". It kills the yeast (or at the least prohibits it from growing and making things rise).
I'm so excited, my tulips are emerging from their winter slumber! I've never had good luck with tulips coming back.n What a pleasant suprise. Things are really budding out here. The grass is begining to turn green. It's such a nice change from white.
Well, I'm falling asleep as I type so I'd better go do something, even if it isn't right. Have a great Sunday everyone!! Love and fuzzies -
Michele
