Hi all, working that dreaded 3-11 shift tonite. Had a beautiful day again today. It clouded up at noon until about an hour ago now sun's back out. Heard some loons this morning. What a beautiful yet haunting song they sing. The robins are in full force. They've decided to nest in the small pine tree in the front of my house instead of the outside lamp - thank goodness as it's attached to the house and every time you'd go out the door they'd have a cow! The woodpecker is having a gay ole time in the back yard, and there have been flocks of geese and ducks flying overhead. Saw an Eagle on the way home from work yesterday morning. I love watching them fly. So graceful and precise. My tulips have peeked out!! I was soooooo happy to see that this morning. Now, if only the rest of my perenials would start peeking.
I tackled Mt. Washmore and swept the floors today. I was hungry for fresh fruit salad so ended up splurging and going to the store to pick up some cantalope, pineapple, strawberries (they were on sale) and watermellon. Chopped them up then tossed them in a large bowl. Mmmmmm. That's for my dinner - ok, not the whole thing, but I'm sure you get the jist LOL. Oh, I also made some oatmeal raisin cookies.
The trees are really budding out now. My Uncle was making syrup last weekend. Talk about good stuff! As a diabetic I need to limit how much I have, but find I tolerate it much better than the storebought thick stuff. I think it's the corn syrup and refined stuff that's in it. Anyway, we always have a cook out up in the sugar shack. Fun times. Not running so good this year so won't be getting as much. Good thing he has some in the cellar LOL. I love fresh homemade syrup on Bryer's vanilla icecream. Again, I can't go hog wild, but I can indulge once in a great while - give a whole new meaning to "savor".
While cleaning, I ran across a couple more sweat pants and sweat shirts I can cut up for another quilt. As I think I've mentioned, I'm surley not a seamstress by any means. A basic straight (ok, semi-straight) stitch by hand on a good day. While my first was certainally not a work of art, it is soft and nice and warm. Hey, my heart is in it if nothing else.
Tomorrow's adgenda? Weeeelllll, more laundry, depending how many cookies are left, I may make a batch of peanutbutter. I need to clean church, daughter has a counsiling apt in the afternoon, and the fridge needs a good sanitizing. Whew! I may grill chicken for supper if it's not raining. I also need to go collect my branches and logs for the headboard I want to make.
Have a great evening everyone. Sending out warm fuzzies all around. God Bless!!!
Michele

I was stopping by because you had left a comment on my blog. I too am a diabetic. You said that maple syrup doesn't affect your sugar levels as much as the corn syrup. That is interesting because I find that any type of syrup real or fake sends my sugars through the roof. It's amazing how so many people with diabetes can react to the same foods and have totally different blood glucose levels. I look forward to reading more of your blog.
P.S. I found that I can enjoy pancakes with some powdered sugar and stay in control.
