Hi all. We were busy here in the ER last night so didn't have a chance to visit. Had a beautiful weekend. Lots of sunshine and temps in the mid to high 50's. I did a bunch of yard work Saturday, caught up on laundry, dishes and scrubbing floors. Had dinner with my folks and brother Saturday evening. Mom made roast beef, mashed spuds, cowboy beans, and of course, in honor of my Dad's birthday last week, a birthday cake (which I passed on as I ate too many mashed spuds and my blood sugar was a tad high  ). Had fun with my nieces and nephew - played Old Maid with the 9 year old and went out to swing and look for birds with the 2 year old.

I've a bit of a delima with my back yard. As I was "evaluating" and once again pulling up sumac roots I noticed that my garage is starting to "slide" down the hill on the one side. It's sitting on an old foundation that cracked and sank on the end, previous owner rebuilt but instead of tearing down and stabilizing the ground, tore down to the foundation, relaid anothe cement slab over that then built connecting it to the house. If the garage goes, so does my kitchen! Oh man, didn't need this. I really don't have the funds for that kind of repair! I don't know what to do. If I'd have known that at one time there was 15 feet of sawdust fillng the back yard I wouldn't have bought the property. I didn't know about it until a little over a year ago when some neighbors told me about it.  Not the kind of news you want to hear after you've been in a place for 3 years. Uff da!!! I couldn't figure out why the back yard was sinking - literally.  To make it worse, the neighbor's garage on the other side is also sliding twards my back yard. And I wanted to sell - ha ha on me I guess.

Yesterday I cleaned out my room. Man the dust sure acumulates quickly. I remove the plastic from over the windows and opened them up for fresh air. I just replentished the cedar around the bushes under my windows and Mmmmmmm, what a wonderful smell! I took measurements on my bed for a head board. I've never had one and have found the perfect fallen Maple to make one from the branches. I've seen it done and am confident I can do it. I'll take a wack at it next weekend I'm off. The thin branches are still quite flexible so will able to do a nice pattern.

Over the weekend I made Crystal's recipe for crockpot spaghetti and chicken lasagne. If you haven't tried them before, I highly suggest you do. I've decided the spaghetti sauce is now what I will can each year. Delicious!

Well, back to the grind. Weather is to continue to be more seasonal which is nice. Rain in the forcast Thursday thru Sunday and possibly Monday too. That's ok as we need the moisture here.

Have a great day - Love and Fuzzies!!

Michele

i popped over to your blog from the comment you left on mine.....beautiful blog and i enjoy your writing.
your organic supplies situation sounds much like ours.....as far a breadmaking...well, i am trying to find a really good beginners/no fail recipe to begin with. most of the ones i have been given are a little fancy. i want a plain yeast bread or whole wheat recipe.....but no one i know seems to have a beginners one. i have friends who laugh when i say that and they say 'bread is bread' there is no such thing as beginner recipes......i gues i just need to have someone SHOW me how.
