Good Morning everyone!! Yipee, I made it thru the weekend. I'm off tonite so will appreciate sleeping when the rest of you do.
Yesterday I didn't do much of anything. It was a beautiful day again, almost 50 degrees. Took Taffy (my 3yo choc lab/golden retriever mix) for a nice stroll down the street. Of course Taffy being Taffy, whenever we came up on a nice mud puddle she had to roll in it! What a mess. She's such a weiner when it comes to rolling in things.
The squirels and birds have been hitting my bird feeders pretty hard lately. I make a mix of sunflower seeds, small nuts, and dried fruit bits. I've a couple recipes for mush I put out once in a while too. I'm hoping the cardinal finds his way back this summer - haven't seen him in a few months but he was gone last winter and back during the summer. No ducks or geese flying over yet but I'm sure it won't be long. Smells good out there. The worst part is the mud. No matter how careful, it seems mud finds it's way all over everything this time of year.
Today I have a little laundry to catch up on (been a LONG time since I've been able to say "a little". I also have to pull more painted wallpaper. I spray on a mix that I use to clean my windows - 1 part warm water, 1 part white vinegar, couple drops of dishsoap (I use Seventh Generation brand), and spray on. I let it set a minute or so then start pulling. It takes patience but worth the effort as I'm not using nasty chemicals.
I checked the seeds I've got soaking and a lot are sprouting. I'll have to start transfering them to dirt pots. Yipee, that means less seeds to purchase. I'm happy about that. I've been doing research on seed saving and may try a couple this year just to see if I'm heading in the right direction with it.
I've 2 more pair of sweat pants and a sweatshirt that I need to cut into squares for my quilt. All you sewers out there, please don't laugh! A "sweatshirt" quilt may not be glamerous but it's very functional. When you add my lack of sewing skill, it's an interesting piece of art - if you could call it art LOL. It's ok, I know I lack the skill although I try very hard. I cut my squares into 6 1/2 inche squares, some face up, some face down and sew them in strips wide enough for a full size bed. Then sew those strips together to fit the length I want. Use an old blanket for the center and a sheet for the back. I then use a "tie" technique my Grandma showed me with yarn. As I said, not glamerous but quite warm and soft - esp if I use a flannel sheet. I can always cover it up with a spread if I need to.
Well, we've got our ambulance out so better get ready for the trauma. One of these days I'll try to spruce up my site like some of you other folks so it's not such a boring place to be. I sure enjoy so many bloggs here.
Everyone have a great day, sending warm fuzzies out for those who want them or need them. See ya all Tuesday night!!
Good Morning to you!

I like the idea of your sweatshirt quilt...sounds warm and snuggly!
