Good Tuesday morning everyone. It's been "balmy" here. Yesterday it warmed up to 32! The air is damp and has that "spring" smell to it although they are calling for a lot of snow this coming weekend.

I don't know if anyone really reads my ramblings, but if you happen to skim on thru, I was wondering what your favorite pan to cook in is - cast iron or regular teflon? Also if you could cook on any kind of stove what would it be and why?

I love to use my cast iron. I was fortunate to receive a box (yes, a box) full of various sizes from a good friend of mine. Her family's house burned down and in the church's collection was this box full of old rusted cast iron pans. She dispises using them so gave them to me. I brought them home, cleaned them up and have been using them ever since. Never had a problem with sticking food. I prefer to use a gas stove. I've more controle over the heat/flame. Also, I'm fortunate that in the event of power outage I can still use my stove. I just light it with a match. Not the oven tho. I admit I am very intrigued with a wood cook stove. My Grandmother cooked on one and I've always wanted to try it.

I'm about caught up on my laundry. I've been helping my Sister-in-Law as well. Her washer went on the fritz Sunday and backed up water all over the bacement. What a mess. She had cloths from a little over a week down there. Yuck - oh, before I forget to mention it, she had an emergency C-Section a little under 2 weeks ago. Mind you I very much enjoy doing laundry, but I'm very glad my Mother took half to do at her house.

My granola turned out fantastic - I did end up going to my Mom's and using her oven. I made it between laundry loads. I used my leftover grilled chicken and made some chicken fried rice on Saturday. Was quite tasty. I mixed up a batch of biscuits as well. Never thought whole wheat would make light and fluffy biscuits but it did. Topped with a little raw honey and I was on this side of heaven. I also mixed up a batch of laundry soap. As I've mentioned before, I like to add citrus essential oils to mine, well, I only had a little of my favorite - orange - so dumped in some lemon and mixed it up well. Not a bad scent at all. I've also used lavender. I've made a menu for this week as well.

Monday - Veggie stir fry, Turkey burgers and fruit. Tuesday, Grilled venison steaks, grilled spuds, steamed broccoli and applesauce muffin. Wednesday, Chicken soup, cornbread and applesauce. Thursday, leftovers from Wednesday and can remaining soup.  Friday, Pepper steak and veggies over brown rice, peaches. Saturday, SOS (hamburger gravey over mashed spuds), peas, choc chip cookie. Sunday, leftover SOS and peas.

Well, we have a patient on the way in. I'd better close. Have a great day everyone!

I love to cook in cast iron skillets & griddles. I also have 3 stainless steel pans I use a lot. Crock pots are great also. jill
