Happy Valentine's Day!!

Good early morning everyone! Hope all are warm and healthy. Monday I ended up skipping laundry day as after working until 7am I had a doctor appointment at 1030. I was there until after 1pm. Man was I tired. I went in for a sore foot - had an x-ray and my doctor thinks it's some sort of cyst. I have an MRI scheduled for tonite at 7:30.
Yesterday I did tackle the laundry (I like to refer to as "Mt. Washmore") and got most of it done. My daughter took over the washer for her laundry after school. I cleaned up the kitchen as well. My daughter refuses to wash dishes ("they make her gag") so you can imagine after my working this past weekend, the pile I had. My sink is nice and shiney again . Didn't get to the floor but it's not in too bad of shape. Will do that when I get up this afternoon. I was on poop patrol as well. It was fairly easy as it's been cold and scoops up easily with the snow.
The fresh air was much needed. I also took Taffy for a walk down the street. Taffy is my 5 year old Chocolate Lab/Golden Retreiver mix. She's a pound save. Her and 6 of her brothers and sisters were left along the highway in a box as pups. I adopter her at 6 weeks and haven't regretted a day of it. She's my constant companion.
The air was cold but the sun peeked out blessing us with a beautiful brightness. God has blessed our area. While we've been fighting bitter cold (-20 to -40 degrees), we've avoided all the snow (not a flake in almost 3 weeks) and God has made sure there has been plenty of sunshine to help keep spirits lifted.
For supper last night I did a pork stir-fry. I stir-fried some red, green and yellow peppers, some onions, garlic, carrots, frozen green beans, frozen pea pods until tender. Then I added a pint jar of pork I had diced and canned this fall. Sure hit the spot. I also canned up the last of the bean soup I made the other day. I can't make a small pot of soup. My pots of soup could feed an army so I end up canning the leftovers. I usually do it in pints but try to have a couple quarts for when my family pops in last minute. I also made home-made dinner rolls - whole wheat of course. Actually it's a bread recipe but my oven hasn't worked since before Christmas so I've been doing all my baking in a toaster oven It's fine most of the time, but I can't make a big loaf of bread in it nor am I able to do bulk baking like I enjoy doing. Making granola is a bit more tedious as well as I can only bake it in small batches. All's well tho, at least I have the toaster oven and at least the stove works.
Another exciting thing is I got my Jung Seed Catalog today!!! I've brought it in to work and plan to look at it shortly. I can't wait to see what's new although I must admit I usually only order the old faithful standby's. I've been buying Jung seeds for years. My father has always gotten his seeds there and have had wonderful sucess. If you're interested, the addy for them is www.jungseed.com I am fortunate that the store is only an hour and a half away so if I'm financially ahead enough, I take a trip down and stay over at the Best Western down the street. Just a relaxing night in the hot tub, cable (which I don't get), order in pizza then the next day I spend a couple hours mulling over what seeds and starters to get. I always go with my list but second guess my choices once I start looking. By going down, I also am able to save on the shipping.
My plans today are sleep (of course), take Taffy to the vet to have her ears checked, I need to go do my work out at the YMCA, my MRI at 7:30 and come back to work at 11pm. In between I need to contact my Pastor to verify my cleaning schedule for the week (I'm also our church custidian) and scrub that kitchen floor. Uff da!!
Well, thanks again to everyone for allowing me to blog here. Again, I'm very new to blogging so any suggestions will be great.
God Bless all of you and those of you in the snow belt, stay safe. Prayers are with you. Sending Toasted Warm Fuzzies .
Michele

Hello, I am fairly new here as well, also live in the suburbs but one day hope to live in the country!
I am also a night shift worker, working at one of our local hospitals. I am a cna but am going to school to become a nurse! I have three great kids and a wonderful husband who kind of accepted the fact that Mom is very much into country living. Anyhow they are encouraging and supportive....they quit laughing at my homemade cleaners and absolutely love the homemade goodies I make them! I am slowly breaking them all into gardening.....they aren't 100 % sure it is fun butI am not giving up!
Well welcome to this wonderful place, I love it and have learned and have been inspired so much by these incredible folks!
