Hello, Friends!

I haven't blogged in a while--I've been busy, and now I'm sick with another cold. My dh just brought me a glass of ice water for my scratchy throat. He's a sweetie! Thankfully, I am feeling better tonight, and I'm looking forward to a more productive day tomorrow.

I made dinner rolls from scratch on Monday. They were half-white, half-whole wheat flour. They turned out really well. I'm not really experienced at making yeast breads, so I was pleased with the results!

My dds and I plan on doing some Christmas baking after my oldest daughter finishes her final exams. We're planning on baking:

frosted cut-out sugar cookies
sprinkle sugar cookies
brownies
sweet cinnamon quick bread
cookie dough brownies
chocolate chip cookies
snickerdoodles

I'm looking forward to spending the time with my daughters. They are a joy to me, and a blessing from the Lord!

Have you done much Christmas baking? Are you planning on doing more? Leave me a comment and share your baking plans!

Hello Jennie. I see, like me, that you enjoy baking bread. I'm not terribly experienced, but awhile ago I learned a tip that has improved my breads. When you are adding the flour to the recipe, add it slowly rather than all at once. I have a nice Kitchenaid mixer and I like to add a cup of flour at a time. I will wait till the dough is mixed from one cup before I add another cup. Oddly enough, if my breads tend to be crumbly, a cup of buckwheat flour makes the texture nicer. Blessings to your family.........Denise (prairiemom)
