Good Morning!Though I should pause and be thankful every day of the year--the Lord has been so good to me--I am even more mindful of His many blessings during this holiday season. One of my favorite songs, "Count Your Blessings," has a wonderful refrain: Count your blessings, name them one by one, Count your blessings, see what God hath done! Count your blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done. The Bible says, "Blessings crown the head of the just:" Prov. 10:6a Now, I'm not saying that I'm just (righteous), but my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is Righteous, and I am in Him through His shed blood. For that, I am truly thankful! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
I did a little baking yesterday, and made two of my favorite recipes which I'd like to share with you. Choco-Peanut Butter Bars 1 C firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 C margarine, softened 1/2 C peanut butter 1 egg 1 t vanilla 1 C all-purpose flour 1/2 t baking soda 1-1/2 C oats 1 C semi-sweet chocolate pieces Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat brown sugar, margarine, and peanut butter till creamy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Add flour and baking soda; mix well. Stir in oats and chocolate pieces. Spread into ungreased 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or till golden brown and edges pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely. Cut into bars. Makes about 2 dozen. Fruit Cobbler ~Grease bottom of 9 x 12 pan and cover with fruit of your choice (peaches, cherries, apples, etc.) ~Dot fruit with butter and pour 3/4 C. sugar over fruit. ~Mix batter (below) and pour over fruit: 1 egg 1/2 C melted butter 1/2 C milk 1 t baking powder 1 C flour 1/2 C sugar 1/2 t salt Bake 45 minutes or till crust browns in 380 degree oven. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Blessings to you today!
~Jennie
