God was with me last night

Posted in Family

Driving home from work (60 miles from home) I travel country roads. Last night I saw a deer cross in front of a car in front of me. Knowing they don't travel alone, I lifted my foot to brake and a voice said, "Maintain your speed". As I put my foot back down (I was on cruise control), I heard an explosion directly behind me!

I had to drive a couple miles to pull off and to my amazement both side windows (I have a minivan) were gone. The vehicle that was behind me pulled off with me and the angel that was driving made sure I was okay and that I had a phone.

It wasn't until I got home 30 minutes later that it hit me that if I would have slowed down, the deer would have hit directly on my driver's side window.

THANK YOU LORD for traveling with me last night and guiding my actions. THANK YOU LORD for sending an angel to comfort me.

GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME!

Girl Time

Posted in Family

My 18 year old daughter and I took off for the weekend to meet her boyfriendÂ’s parents and enjoy some ‘girl timeÂ’.  The older she gets, the harder it gets to have dedicated time with each other.  We are planning more weekends in the future.

While my daughter was spending time with her boyfriend, I managed to finish my first piece on my triangle loom and crocheted a teddy bear from homespun mohair.

While we were away, the boys had overnight plans with friends so Paul was left by himself most of the weekend.  As he wrote in our journal, “I used to treasure my times of solitude, but after being fully immersed in family life the past 4 years, the time alone was odd.  I missed the hubbub of the house.”

He was busy all weekend, scrubbed the house from top to bottom, got all the laundry and vacuuming done.  It sure was nice to come home to a clean house.

I found an ‘Old TimerÂ’ 3-blade knife for him at an antique shop.  Paul lost his knife around Christmas and has been lost without it.  I also found him a new (antique) watch chain and an itty-bitty little 2-blade knife to hang as a fob on the watch chain.

I am blessed with a creative husband!

Posted in Family

Paul has been busy in his workshop lately.  Let me rephrase that because Paul is ALWAYS busy in his workshop!  But these last couple of weeks, I have been the beneficiary of his creations!

I love to spin but rarely do I buy prepared fiber.  IÂ’ve gotten great deals on raw fleece that I wash, hand pick, card and spin.  Last year I was given directions on how to make a picker.  (A medieval contraptions that separates and fluffs up the fiber before it is carded.)  It has been sitting in PaulÂ’s “Round To-It” file.  Last week he finished it!! It works wonderfully!

I have an old llama fleece that I started picking/carding/spinning a couple years ago.  I even have one mitten for Paul made from it.  The fleece is old and felted and very time consuming to prepare to spin.  Within an hour, I have enough fleece picked that I should be able to complete the other mitten and perhaps a scarf for Paul.

I this wasnÂ’t enough, when Paul found the instructions for the picker, he also found instructions on how to make a triangle loom.  Yes, you guessed it!!  I have been weaving the last couple nights on my new loom!

I am very blessed to be his Helpmate.

Lost a Friend

Posted in Family

It's never easy to say good-bye to a person that has made an impact on your life.

It's even harder when that person is someone you only spent a couple days with once, spoke with only a couple of times since then and was looking forward to seeing again this summer.

Wendy Howerter was such a person in my life.

I met her and her family at a homestead gathering last June following Carla Emery to Wendy's homestead after Carla spoke at our place.

Wendy was a soft spoken woman.  The love she had for our Lord and her family shined brightly from her face.  She willingly shared her story and her convictions without making you feel uncomfortable.  She opened my eyes to new ideas.

The tears I shed now are for all that knew Wendy, not for Wendy herself.  She is cradled in the bosom of our Lord. Wendy, you were loved while here on earth and now you rest   You are greatly missed.

Blog readers, if you believe and pray, please keep Wendy's husband, Tim and their young children wrapped in prayer.
