Girl Time

Posted in Family

My 18 year old daughter and I took off for the weekend to meet her boyfriendÂ’s parents and enjoy some ‘girl timeÂ’.  The older she gets, the harder it gets to have dedicated time with each other.  We are planning more weekends in the future.

While my daughter was spending time with her boyfriend, I managed to finish my first piece on my triangle loom and crocheted a teddy bear from homespun mohair.

While we were away, the boys had overnight plans with friends so Paul was left by himself most of the weekend.  As he wrote in our journal, “I used to treasure my times of solitude, but after being fully immersed in family life the past 4 years, the time alone was odd.  I missed the hubbub of the house.”

He was busy all weekend, scrubbed the house from top to bottom, got all the laundry and vacuuming done.  It sure was nice to come home to a clean house.

I found an ‘Old TimerÂ’ 3-blade knife for him at an antique shop.  Paul lost his knife around Christmas and has been lost without it.  I also found him a new (antique) watch chain and an itty-bitty little 2-blade knife to hang as a fob on the watch chain.

I love your blog -- wish I had known of your site before we moved from northern Illinois last spring!! We could have been neighbors in the flesh instead of homesteadblogger neighbors only!
Wonderful visit!
