Paul has been busy in his workshop lately. Let me rephrase that because Paul is ALWAYS busy in his workshop! But these last couple of weeks, I have been the beneficiary of his creations!
I love to spin but rarely do I buy prepared fiber. I’ve gotten great deals on raw fleece that I wash, hand pick, card and spin. Last year I was given directions on how to make a picker. (A medieval contraptions that separates and fluffs up the fiber before it is carded.) It has been sitting in Paul’s “Round To-It” file. Last week he finished it!! It works wonderfully!
I have an old llama fleece that I started picking/carding/spinning a couple years ago. I even have one mitten for Paul made from it. The fleece is old and felted and very time consuming to prepare to spin. Within an hour, I have enough fleece picked that I should be able to complete the other mitten and perhaps a scarf for Paul.
I this wasnÂ’t enough, when Paul found the instructions for the picker, he also found instructions on how to make a triangle loom. Yes, you guessed it!! I have been weaving the last couple nights on my new loom! I am very blessed to be his Helpmate. |
