This is where Clyde, our little pygmy goat, spent his last days. One minute he was fine the nest he was lying on the ground twitching. It looks like he got worms and showed no signs until it was too late. I am now looking up goat wormer recipes. A hard lesson learned.

I'm so sorry we have two pygmies and if something was to happen to them I would be beside myself.
You said something about worms? Do you worm him? is there other goats with him? how old is he? sorry so many questions..
I worm my goats but its too my understanding if they are with a herd of them they don't usually get worms..
Please keep us in formed..
We had not wormed them before as I wanted to treat our animals naturally. I was under the false impression that worming was only done when an animal is found to have worms. Now I am in the process of gathering all of the ingredients to a herbal worming formula that I will feed to the rest of my herd monthly. Thanks to the goat groups I belong to I have had lots if help. I NEVER want to repeat what happened to Clyde.

How old was he? It sounds like overeating to me. With worms he would have just gotten weaker and weaker. Overeating is sudden. Let me know, I would love to be able to help you if I can!

Overeating? I had not thought about that. I don't think that was it. Clyde shared the pasture with my doe and my buck. They were fed 1 flake of alfalfa hay each day plus all the pasture they could eat. I would like to hear your thoughts on this. The pasture has been the same for the past 10 months so I ruled out poisoning. I wormed the whole heard after he died, including the 2 kids in a separate pen. So far, they are all fine.
I have been married to my Handsome Hubby for 18 years. Homeschooling Mother of 7. We moved out of the city onto an acre of God's creation. This is our tale of learning to live a "country life". This should be interesting!
