Trying to be like the original example of a homesteading woman: "She's up before dawn, preparing breakfast for her family, and organizing her day. She looks over a field and buys it, then, with money she's put aside, plants a garden." Proverbs 31:15-16 (The Message)

A wonderful thing about a book, in contrast to a computer screen,

Snow Much Fun! - 12:46, Thursday, February 8, 2007

Welcome to my redesigned blog site. Come share our first big snow of the winter:

Snow Day 1

The beginning of the storm of '07. It's been coming down for about an hour in this pic. (The room to the far right is my new master bedroom...still under construction--it's been great for the dog and cat during the super cold nights. I can't wait till I get to take advantage of it!!!)

This is 12-pole creek behind our property. Most of the otherside of the creek belongs to the railroad. We can't use the bottom area because it floods about every other year. It's still below our home level. Once upon a time the middle level (the one I'm standing on taking the picture) was used for a large garden. The trees have shaded in too much for that now...maybe my 'someday' goats will get to enjoy it.

Here are my boys...ds on the left & dh on the right. 2 of the lights of my life!!

When the snow starts accumulating on the collar it's time to head in for some hot cocoa.

Snow Day 2

My dear grandson's first time to play in the snow. He's not sure what to do...he just followed the cat and the dog around the yard.

Spring is coming!!!! The sun peeped over the hill at 9:17 a.m. That's 30 minutes earlier than when I started blogging  on January 8.

Here's dd2 getting in some night time fun. My kids are known for taking advantage of weather surprises at all times of the day or night. They used to sled on the hill across the street at night in Massachusetts. The first winter we were back from serving in the AF, we had an ice storm and flooding. My kids got out the canoe and rowed around in the front yard. The water was about 2 ft deep.

My dear grandson's first snow angel. He's taking after the rest of the family and playing out at night with the girls (his mommy-dd1-is holding the camera). He was soon ready to snuggle up in front of the fireplace and sip some cocoa!

Thank the Lord for winter blessings! But I really am a spring/summer kinda gal...after all, I spent most of my life near the beach!!!
