My heart's desires are chaniging in lots of ways, but one of them is to sew my own skirts and dresses.  I need simple patterns ( I am definitely a beginner!).  I do have a sewing machine, but I have not used it in some time.  If I remember correctly, it wasn't working right then.  The bottom stiching wasn't holding.  Is anyone familiar with this problem?

It's probably a tension problem, but you'd have to play with the tension to get it just right. I hate that and can't really tell you how to get it exactly right. You can e-mail me though and I'll try to be a bit more specific.
I know what you mean when you say your desires are changing. Mine too. Whoda thought a City-girl (from the Bronx, NYC no doubt!) would desire a large family and orchards, canning and making pies, vegetable gardens and the like. It's blowing my family's mind and they look at me like I'm crazy, but I can't get away from it!!! =) Praise the Lord!!! The most wonderful part is my hubby is in agreement!!!
I have a desire to sew everything I can for the home including fitted and flat sheets for our beds. I'm finding though that most people who sew see this as a ridiculous endeavor and I've been ridiculed for saying it more than once already.
