Living Free

• Tuesday, October 10, 2006 - A New House

We are closing on a new home Oct. 20th.  It is in town with a small yard.  We can still learn even in the smallest spaces how to provide what we can for ourselves. :)  The plan is to live in this house for a few years and build up equity to buy our country place.  We are just plain happy to get out of this apartment!

I have taken an intrest in making bread.  I enjoy doing it and if I just follow the receipe the bread seems to turn out all right.  I don't think I am patient enough yet. I have been cutting the rising time short, but I will have to learn.

Does anyone have any fav bread receipes to share?

• Monday, September 11, 2006 - Discerning God Direction

We have been searching for land, particularly land with a home already on it.  We cannot seem to find exactly what we believe we need.  So for now we are staying put. Jason and I were just talking about it this morning.  We drove past a property.  The land looked beautiful, but it is on a very busy road.  The house is only 1002 sq ft.  We were considering it, but the price would put a strain on our finances.  It seems every where we look there are things about the properties that we just don't like or want or can't afford.  So we think it is a closed door for now.  We are okay with that.  It will give us time to read and learn from others, and probably have an even better idea of what type of land we need.

• Thursday, September 7, 2006 - Any Suggestions?

The past couple of days we have been scouring the internet looking for property.  It seems most housing in our area is a little more pricey than we had planned on spending.  There is a prospect we will try to go see tomorrow.  It is a cute little house on 2 acres.  This is less land than we had originally been looking for.  Our daughter would love to have a horse, but there are other things we want/need to start first, like a garden and chickens.  We are city folk and are not sure what amount of land would be sufficient.  Any suggestions?

• Tuesday, September 5, 2006 - Disappointed But Hopeful

Posted in Just My Heart

Well, we found out today that the land we had wanted sold to someone else.  Needless to say we are disappointed.  We are living in a townhouse in an apartment complex, and we are all feeling very cramped and tired of it.  But we still believe God sees, hears, and understands.  He knows exactly what we need and exactly when we will need it.  It seems this whole year has been about leaning completely on Him.  I know there have been several times I have thought it impossible to keep on going, but somehow, by nothing but God's grace, I have made it at least this far.  So why stop trusting Him now?  The answer is in allowing Him to increase my trust, to expand my faith, to be still and know that He is God, and I am not. Not an easy lesson for me to learn, but I know it is for the best.

Blessings,

Jen

• Saturday, September 2, 2006 - Sewing Questions

My heart's desires are chaniging in lots of ways, but one of them is to sew my own skirts and dresses.  I need simple patterns ( I am definitely a beginner!).  I do have a sewing machine, but I have not used it in some time.  If I remember correctly, it wasn't working right then.  The bottom stiching wasn't holding.  Is anyone familiar with this problem?

God bless you richly!

• Friday, September 1, 2006 - Can't Wait to Start

HI!  My husband, Jason, and I can't wait to move out to the land God has in store for us.  He has impressed upon our hearts that living more independently is living free!  We have also just decided to have more children. :)  We have 2 children now.   A boy and a girl, ages 5 and 9.  We are working toward a whole new lifestyle.  One that none of our family understands.  We appreciate any encouragement and help that anyone has to offer!

May God bless you all and your families!

Jen
