Educating myself

We went to the library for the children's program this morning and I took the opportunity to check out some books about thyroid disorders.  I have scanned through one of them a bit today and I never knew there could be so many things go wrong with your thyroid or just how many different things could be the cause.  One thing I've read with great interest is how it's possible for you to develop an underactive thyroid after pregnancy.  Maybe that's what's happening with me since my ds2 was born just over 6 months ago.  I have many of the symptoms since most of them mimick things that happen postpartum anyway (hair loss, fatigue, foggy mind, poor memory, etc.) and have many of the other symptoms as well.  Of course, to be fair, I have several of the symptoms of an overactive thyroid as well.  I'm grateful for the lists in this particular book though.  They are far more extensive than anything I've found online so at least I can write it all down and go equipped when I see the endocrinologist.

I have a huge urge to declutter around the house even more, but today hasn't been a good day thusfar.  About halfway through the library program my left ear closed up (like being on an airplane) and I couldn't get it to pop.  My right ear started doing the same thing, though not as bad.  I felt okay otherwise, but ds2 had been sitting in my lap and when I stood to put him in the stroller at the end of the program I lost my balance and he went crashing in.  Thankfully, he was okay.  I was okay driving home, but then again when I was standing or walking around I was very off balance and loopy.  I tried to lie down with ds2 for a short nap, and although I didn't get much rest (ds1 bless his heart never can leave me alone), I'm feeling better now.  So..... hopefully tonight I can go through the house a bit and get out the things I already have in my mind that we don't need.  I would like to have some things together by the weekend so dh can take them to a local thrift shop we've donated to before.
