Potatoes, yellow squash, and pirates

Well, I threw aside my organizing plans for today and have been working in the kitchen instead making mashed potatoes to go in the freezer (okay, I'll admit that they didn't all make it to the freezer - yum!) and freezing squash for making squash patties.  Ds1 requested blueberry muffins or something made with the mounds of blueberries we have right now, but the kitchen is already past the sweltering point so that will have to wait for tomorrow.  I don't think he minds too much since he just filled up on mashed potatoes.

I forgot to blog earlier about my unexpected bargain this weekend.  Dh wanted more of the all-natural ground buffalo I mentioned before so I took a couple of $1 coupons with me when I went to the store and grabbed a couple of packs.  They were marked $5.69 (another location of the same store sells them for $5.99), but rang up $3.99 a pack.  They are not advertised as being on sale so that was an unepected surprise.  I wished I had taken more coupons with me, but we were able to stop by and pick up 7 more packs on the way home from the stamp show yesterday - all rang up for $3.99!  So, for $26.91 I got $51.21 worth of meat - a savings of $24.30 - horray for my wallet!  The $1 off coupons I found sure have come in handy.

Ds1 has requested I come play pirates with him now.  He's making his stuffed animals walk the plank!

GASP, you can put mashed potatoes in the freezer? How do you do that, and how do they turn out? Very interesting!
