MOANday

I'm dragging this morning.  We had heavy rains this morning from about 3am to 4am and I couldn't sleep.  It sounded like we were in an enormous wind tunnel.  Thankfully it didn't wake anyone else.

We had rain most of the day yesterday as well so dh's plans to work on the back porch were wiped out.  *sigh*  It seems like this is never going to get finished.  He was able to get about half the mowing done and most of the weedeating though.  I worked all day on finishing decluttering our 2nd file box.  I moved all of our appliance and such manuals to a 3-ring binder and stored them in page protectors.  It'll be so much easier to flip through and locate something now.  In between I washed 3 loads of laundry.

The rain and clouds also scrubbed the launch of space shuttle Discovery both Saturday and Sunday.  Ds1 was upset, but they're trying again tomorrow so we'll park ourselves in front of the tv again watching the countdown clock and then race out into the back yard to watch liftoff.

Saturday ds1 and I ran a couple of quick errands and then stopped by the homeschool store here.  It's been open for well over a year and I've never gone!  I decided not to write his science curriculum myself this year.  Instead, we'll be using Apologia (elementary astronomy).  I also bought a few posters to go along with that, but now I'm at a loss as to how to display them.  Our walls are textured so I'm apprehensive about taping anything to them now for fear of pulling off the texture.  Anyone have any other ideas of an easy way to display/use them?  I bought him 3 books as a treat as well - one about tigers, one about lions, and one about big cats.  There was so much more I would have loved to look through, but I wanted to get home before the dishwasher repairman arrived.  I want to go back later this month and maybe buy some things for ds1 and ds2 for Christmas.

And.... the dishwasher is fixed AGAIN!  Gosh, this crazy thing has given us so much trouble in the year and a half we've had it.  We bought the top of the line thinking we were doing ourselves a favor and instead it's been nothing but a headache.  Lesson learned.  We have many power surges in this area so that's one problem, but the last 2 repairmen have been super nice and both told us that the fancier the appliance the more problems you're likely to encounter due to all the electrical and such involved.  You'd think we'd thought of that ourselves, but it never crossed our minds.

I've started a price book of sorts again.  I haven't used one for years because so few places here were carrying organics that I could keep it all in my head.  Now with WalMart thrown in the mix, I need the book.  It'll be an ongoing project with me having to take notes as I can when I go to each store.

Other than that I've done some work on my astral lions cross stitch the past two days.  My goal right now is to work on it every day during the month of July.  It doesn't matter how much I get accomplished each day,  I just want to do what I can and see where it stands at the end of the month.  I could work a lot faster if ds1 wouldn't stand right beside me and watch everything I do.  What messes me up though is when he starts talking to me and I'm trying to count!  Ack!

Tonight dh and I need to discuss our co-op produce order for this week.  I thought the lady said she sent out the email on Sunday, but it didn't get sent until this morning and was waiting for me in my inbox.  She didn't send me any info about the catalog order though (non-produce items) so I don't know what's up with that.  I'm hoping to get to look at the catalog this week if no one else has it.  I also have to take ds2 to the doctor today for a well-child check (the appointment that was supposed to happen last Monday and we found out when we got there that the appt. was not in the computer).

You've been busy Kim. For your posters you could tack them to a piece of cardboard with tacky glue I think it's called. It comes in a small pkg. and it's kinda like putty. You flatten it and put it on the picture and then to the wall. It doesn't leave a mark and comes off very easily. If you didn't want to do that, you could glue the posters to the piece of cardboard and stand them up on a dresser or cupboard. We've done that before.
Hope all goes well for your little one's check-up.
