Peaceful Tuesday

This morning I treated myself to working on my astral lions cross stitch for a bit.  I really want to have it done to give to ds1 for Christmas to hang in his room so I have to get busy.  I started out with a bang on it a few weeks ago and then let it slip aside.  He's seen me working on it and I fibbed and told him it was a gift for an online friend.  I don't know what else to do in that respect!  I don't have a craft room and even if I did I would never get any time by myself in it.  Nothing I make can ever be done in private.

I've also been thinking about Christmas a good deal (not unusual for me as I think about it all year long) and what I can do this year as a special treat for ds1.  We have no friends to share the holidays with so I have been thinking that I might throw a little party just for the 4 of us.  I will send ds1 an invitation (he loves to get mail) and I will make up a little buffet of foods and treats served on our special china.  My friend Carol's new attitude has inspired a new attitude in me as well.  (She has been a mentor and inspiration for a few years now and I am so grateful for her online friendship.)  We never use our china because I'm always afraid of it getting broken or chipped.  After reading her blog entires of late, Carol has helped me let go of that.  Who cares if they get broken?  They're just dishes.  We need to be enjoying them instead of just letting them sit in a cabinet.

We also went to the library this morning.  I am loving this particular library branch more and more each time we go.  The children's librarian (I think her technical title is actually "youth librarian") is so sweet.  She and ds1 have developed a fast friendship.  Even though this branch is the complete opposite direction of town and any errands I need to run, I am thinking seriously about using this branch for all the books I put on hold during our homeschool year.  The drive along the river is just so peaceful and I'm finding I come home in a very good mood each time we visit this branch.  I also found a lot of great magazines in the freebie bin today, most of them issues from the last couple of months.

While I nursed ds2 upon returning home, he didn't mind me multitasking a bit so I indulged in reading a couple of chapters from Circle of Quilters by Jennifer Chiaverini.  I adore this series of books.  Again, I have my friend Carol to thank for suggesting them to me.

Hopefully the rest of the day will bring more opportunity for me to work on the cross stitch a bit more and I want to spend a bit more time shredding old paperwork.   Unfortunately our dishwasher has been on the fritz (again!) since the weekend so my afternoon holds some handwashing of dishes for me as well.  Tonight we need to make a WalMart run (ugh! - but they do have organics and the prices are better than the health food store *sigh*) and a quick stop by the health food store if the weather holds.  We had a good deal of rain yesterday - hooray! - and we've had some clouds and thunder thusfar today, but no rain.

Here's hoping you get an opportunity to work more on your cross stitch. I've been thinking lots about Christmas too.

Awe thanks for the sweet words Kim. I too have learnt so much from you in regards to healthy living and the environment. It's a sweet friendship indeed.
Hope you get a chance to work on your cross stitch some more. I haven't started thinking about Christmas yet, however I think I better. I'm thinking we might have another fun pioneer Christmas again.
