Weekend Happenings

I spent yesterday going through one of our file boxes full of household paperwork.  I am so terrible about keeping EVERYTHING for fear we "might someday need it".  I have let go of that feeling and half the contents of the box are now gone - hooray!  I still have about half the discard pile to shred and I'm hoping to work some more on that tonight.  I also pulled out all the paperwork that is essential we take with us in an emergency (such as hurricane evacuation).  When we have evacuated in the past I've just taken the complete file boxes with us, but it's just too much.  My goal is to have the other file box decluttered by the end of the week.

Dh dropped off the sample vials at the hospital lab this morning.  They could not give him any indication as to when we would find out the results.  Ds2 has a well-child appointment scheduled with his doctor tomorrow anyway so I'm sure we'll find out if any of the tests are finished then.  I hope he still has his appointment though.  The doctor's office always calls the business day before (so it would have been Friday) to remind me AND an automated service always calls with a reminder.  I realized today that neither called on Friday.

We've gotten a couple of brief showers today and the rain is very welcomed.  Dh and ds1 have made more progress on enclosing the back porch today.  Dh really wants one of his co-workers to help him (he has experience with this kind of work).  Dh knows the guy wants a surfboard so dh mentioned to me that he might offer the guy one of his surfboards in exchange for his labor (and it would include helping with some other remodeling projects around here as well).  It sounds like a good barter to me if the guy will go for it.  Dh has 11 boards so getting rid of one won't leave him in any kind of bind.

I made a bit of progress on shredding paperwork today, but ds2 has been quite 'needy' today so we've had lots of snuggle time.  Ds1 and I worked on soaking and removing stamps for his collection today as well and in the midst of it all I've done 3 loads of laundry (still need to put away 2 of them).  And I almost forgot, I was able to watch most of a movie with ds1 this afternoon and we shared plenty of laughs.
