I've been so busy this summer with visiting family and friends, that I've completely neglected my little old blog. Hopefully things will settle down soon and I can get back to more regular blogging . . . Until then, I'd like to wish everyone here at Homestead Blogger a very happy 4th of July and a very happy summer! (The photo above is a pot of Nemesia and Cosmos on my porch decorated for the upcoming holiday - I love the cheerful colors of summer!)

God said, No. It is not for me to take away, But for you to give it up. I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. God said, No.
His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary. I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No. Patience is a byproduct of tribulations;
It isn't granted, it is learned. I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No. I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you. I asked God to spare me pain. God said, No. Suffering draws you apart from Worldly cares and brings you closer to me. I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, No. You must grow on your own, But I will prune you to make you fruitful. I asked God for all things That I might enjoy life. God said, No. I will give you life, So that you may enjoy all things.
I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me. God said...Ahhhh, Finally you have the idea.. THIS DAY IS YOURS DON'T THROW IT AWAY Sarah will be going in for her surgery on July 7th. We are leaving for Indy on Sunday and I just ask that you remember to say a prayer for her. | 0 comments | Link Sunday, June 7, 2009Things are getting busy...This is the last non-busy week for us. We also got some bad news about Sarah's surgery this summer... tThings are a lot worse than we knew....Sarah will be going in for a double valve replacement sometime in July or August and they are going to reduce the size of her left ventricle... the worse news is that we are no longer looking at 1 more surgery after this one...we are looking at a lifetime of valve replacements about every 5-10 years..... | 1 comments | Link Sunday, May 3, 2009My blue-eyed galz....Here is a picture of my blue-eyed babies...don't they look adorable. | 2 comments | Link April 28, 2009Refreshing Oasis"Miss Alice had the knack of making these Tuesday evenings a refreshing oasis in the midst of our otherwise hectic lives. I often marveled that the interior peace of the woman was reflected so faithfully in her surroundings. Even the selection and arrangements of her possessions gave an aura of uncluttered calm. In addition, there was a directness in her approach to all of life - including the art of housekeeping - that never failed to fascinate me. Miss Alice was a woman to whom color, symmetry of line and contrast of texture were important. She flouted the accepted custom of covering her table tops with doilies or small scarves; the sheen and patina of the lovely old wood were all the decoration needed. In a pewter bowl she could arrange with artistry a few well-polished apples and some nuts, or a piece of quartz picked up somewhere in the mountains along with some unusual leaves and berries. I reveled in all of this. Though David, manlike, noticed none of these details, he nevertheless responded to the atmosphere they created." ~ from the book, Christy, by Catherine Marshall | 0 comments | Link Friday, April 24, 2009Here is a pic of Ron and I before kids....
