Updates---

Dear Friends,

Well it's been awhile since I have updated on our lives around our homestead.  Sometimes I don't think I have to much to talk about, that's why the posts are so sparse here anymore.

Let's see, Amanda started a new "job" which she goes to on Tuesday's and Thursday's.  School does all the transporting, (Amanda is in a life skills class).  She is working at a nursing home right now in the kitchen, folding napkins, setting the tables, helping in the kitchen, with dishes, everything that comes with working in a kitchen. She really does enjoy it.  She is a people person so this is definatly a good thing for her.  We had a little mix up with the bus schedule though, she was to be ready by 6:15 AM.. HUH?  Are you kidding, well the first day she's out at 6:10 waiting for the bus, and as of 6:45 she was still standing there (It was dark out also).  So I got on the phone and called the bus company, well of course they don't start answering phones until 7:45, are you kidding me?  No,  but at 6:56 a bus rolled on up (her normal time of catching her bus when she goes to school.) So I waited patiently for the phone and at 8:30 YES 8:30 the phone rang and it's the bus company.   They started by telling me they called me on Friday (NO they didn't) and told me her bus was coming at 6:50??  I said no you didn't, the woman insisted she did, but she didn't.  I said "you must have called her school and told them"?  Amanda is bussed by our school district but attends another school district because of her special needs.    Well anyway, she said the bus comes at 6:50 for her on Tuesday and Thursday.  I proceeded to tell her that her teacher wrote in her "agenda" 6:15, which I thought was way way way to early.  So come to find out, it goes through about 3 other channels before it gets to me, so somebody somewhere along the line misunderstood 6:50 as 6:15?  But anyway, we have finally gotten this all straightened out.  And it's been smooth sailing ever since.  And I am glad she enjoys her job.  She will have 4 different jobs this year to see what she is best at and hopefully by the end of next school year she will have a job that she can keep a few days a week for the rest of her life.  Pray for Amanda, she is a sweet sweet girl and she deserves a great start to her adulthood.

I am a little confused over the "OIL" prices by the barrel.  I saw on the news that it is now under $70 a barrel, so why is it oil has only dropped maybe 90c a gallon here?  It should really be under $2 a gallon and it's still $2.61.  But let me tell you when it was going up daily by the barrel, they sure weren't hesitant to keep the price going up sometimes 3 different prices a day.  I can check the oil prices where we get our oil on their website, and since yesterday it went up 10c a gallon?  I am not understanding any of this to tell you the truth.  We almost have our pellet stove hooked up, John is going to try and finish it tonight.  I can't wait.. I will post pictures once it's done.

Well last night John and I, went to our son in law's swearing in at the police station.  He is now a police officer for a town about 40 minutes from us.  We are so proud of him, he started today.  I will also post pictures when Sue sends me some after she downloads them.  Our son in law Bill was in Iraq 3X and a sergeant in the marine corps.  He was enlisted 12 years and after he left the marine corps, he went to police academy and then worked some other jobs until he got this position, he has longed for.  He has to be on the force for a year, then he can transfer to S.W.A.T. when there is a position available.  That is what he is really intersted in the S.W.A.T. team.  Although we are worried about his dangerous job, but this is what he has wanted for years, so we wish him well, and much safety!

Our kitchen isn't complete yet, I told John ""PLEASE" have it done for Thanksgiving dinner, so that is what we are shooting for.   I am so pleased with what is done so far in the kitchen, I still stand there and look around and truly feel how blessed we are to have such a nice home.

Well John our son woke up on Monday with a sore throat, (a few weeks ago I had it), but he is on his way to recovery, although he seems to have a cough, head conjestion and I didn't)  So hopefully this isn't something that he will pass on to the rest of us.. UGH..

We have some birthday's coming up in our family.  Amanda will turn 20 on October 30th.  Then our Grandsons birthday's Logan on November 7th and Jaydon on November 22nd.  And then 2 of our other daughters, Logan and jaydon's mom, Sue will be 31 on November 15th and Stacie will be 24 on November 19th, then of course there is my dad who will be 68 on November 14th, the same day as my good friend Linda who we went to Wildwood with in July, she will be 54 on November 14th also.  Then I have a "long distant pen pal friend" Mary who will be 49 on November 2nd.  If you are reading this Mary HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU MY DEAR FRIEND!!!!! Mary has had her life blessed with 8 children, but also has had her share of struggles.  Her dear husband David with his cancer scare earlier this year, and Praise God it was just a scare, everything worked out for him.  They thought his cancer had returned which he battled a few years back, but I am please to say it wasn't what the doctor had thought and God does answer prayers.

I am not really sure if I am ready for this "COLD" weather we have had this week in PA, in the 20's overnight.  I LOVE Spring, summer and fall but this cold weather I can truly do without.  But I guess we have to live with it.  And I think Winter is still 2 months away.  We have had wonderfuly weather in the 60's, 70's and low 80s this month, but wow when it gets cold it's down right COLD here!  I do hope for a few "indian summer" days in the next few weeks her in PA.

Well tonight the WORLD SERIES starts, and we made it..   GO PHILLIES!

We sure do hope they bring a pennant home this year!!!

I have had a few great buys to add to my stockpiles since food prices are sooo high.  I will have to do that another time.  I have a few things to do before I pick Logan up from pre-school.  Tonight for dinner we are having, stir fry with brown rice, apple crisp, and a nice salad I had gotten for 24c a bag with a 1/2 price sale and I had $1 coupons so I have 5 bags of salad to use up in the next 3-4 days, but I will when I have a stockpile of salad I have a nice big bowl for lunch and cut up some other veggies and I have a chicken breast left from dinner the other night so I will add that to it, and it makes for a "yummy" lunch.

I want to try and post more, but I am not sure if anybody even reads my blog anymore, since it's been so long.  If you do please LMK. Ok?

Blessings to you and your families on your homestead..

Thanks for mentioning my birthday, but do we have to remember the "49" part????
Am recovering from gallbladder and a hernia surgery on the 22nd. Today is the first day I went out and ran a couple errands and felt soooo tired afterwards. Feeling better every day. Hope to write you soon

We are currently a family of 5. My husband John, and our 2 sons, John and Anthony and our daughter Amanda. We have 4 other children, who all have grown and moved out. We are blessed with 2 wonderful grandsons, Jaydon and Logan, who I watch while their mommy works. Jaydon is in school all day and Logan attends pre-school right now. We are in the process of remodeling our home, and doing our kitchen which is the last that needs to be done. As I type this John is putting up the tiles on the backsplash. He is almost done with our kitchen and he has done a terrific job.I enjoy couponing, bargain hunting, cooking and spending time with my family. Why don't you come on in and enjoy a cup of tea and read some of my blog. Thank you for taking the time to stop in.
