This really does work well.
- About 7 pints cold water (108 ounces)
- 1/2 cup soapy ammonia
- 1 pint rubbing alcohol
Fill a 1- or 2-gallon bucket with the water. Carefully add the ammonia and rubbing alcohol.
Mix well and pour into spray bottles.
To distinguish this clear liquid from other cleaners, tint it with a drop or two of blue food coloring or clearly label the spray bottle.

• Monday, May 26, 2008 - Homemade Carpet Freshener
Once in a while, the carpets need a good freshening. Don't go to the store for a box of that expensive, chemical-filled carpet cleaner! Mix this up and do it yourself for pennies!
Homemade Carpet Freshener
1 1/2 cup baking soda
3/4 cup cornstarch OR salt
3/4 cups crushed lavender buds (or a few tbsps ground cinnamon, or some rosemary...use what you love!)
Blend, then sprinkle on the carpets and let sit for at least an hour. Vacuum well. |

• Friday, February 1, 2008 - Homemade Laundry Powder
I made a batch of this a few days ago, and it seems to work well!
Homemade Laundry Powder
Grate 1 bar of Fels Naptha Soap. That is about 2 cups powder
Add 1 cup washing soda and 1 cup borax. Mix well. Use up to 2 Tbsp. in your front loading machine.
I will double or triple this next time I make it. |
