Savannah Gold is the first thing they take off of cane sugar when they are refining it down. Savannah Gold w/Honey is a good white sugar replacement. Savannah Gold w/Molasses is a good brown sugar replacement. They are still a sweetener, but they have a few nutrients which are removed from white refined sugar. Also known as sucanat or dehydrated cane crystals. I find it more full-flavored so I do not use as much sweetener.

Adding Sucanat

The sucanat is the same as Savannah Gold with molasses. Do the same thing to it as I have done with the Savannah Gold with molasses. Blend it to a powder and follow my recipe adding it to the eggs. The only difference that you will find from my cake is the color of the finished product. That will be because the color of the sucanat is darker than the savannah gold with honey.
