love your October pics~~well almost all of them~~
I love the colours of October at least early October by late the colours are usually bare and the ground is often white. But back to your loves of October~~
Most I can relate to and love too but trantulas crossing the road would definetly NOT be listed as one of my favourites I am not a fan of spiders in the first place and to have something like a trantula crossing my roads would be like be total freak out!! LOL!
I have never picked any kind of walnut. Let alone black walnuts nor persimmons...
Guess I live a pretty sheltered life here~~ I love the leaf colour changes, the cooler weather the frosty crisp mornings with ice on the buckets, I love the cows coming home off the range, the scarecrows, the firewood getting, the canning and jamming, the butchering, Children in their little jackies with hoods on them, babies in blankets, men in their flannel workshirts~~~could go on and on but won't.
You have a wonderful happy October! and enjoy them trantulas!!!

Opals
Hi There! So glad you weren't offended by my aversion to spiders. LOL!
The snow isn't sticking to the ground here but yes we get snow in October and sometimes it sticks and sometimes not. We have had -30 and colder by Halloween some years but not for awhile.
I can hardly imagine 70's temps in October. We think it is swimming weather when it gets to that and when it hits the 80's(rarely in this part of the country) we think we will die. South of us in the Kamloops area gets real hot around the 90's in the summer and they have cactuses too. And black widows and rattlers! I grew up in that country but have been in the north for a long time now. More than twenty years.
In the photo you see my husband and oldest son digging in the opal claim they are in an opal seam there that we discovered. It goes a long ways and we spend alot of time hand digging it and pulling out in big chunks. We do not have a quality test result back at this point. Just for you I will post a couple more photos this morning of just digging at Sage's claim. The whole family gets involved lots of fun and yes we have old tubs full of water and opal rock. Opals have to be wet or they dry out and crack.
Have a great day and God Bless
