• Saturday, April 5, 2008 - My Saturday!

Today I ran away! I did it without warning and with fan fair! I went garage saling.... ALL ALONE!!!!!!!!!!! Why alone? Because I had children that didn't do chores correctly this week. They knew better and still made the choice to not do it right. I did warn them that they weren't going to like the consequences. Not sure how much they didn't like it, since they got to spend time with dad and big brother, SIL and a friend's son. Oh well! I had fun, and really enjoyed my down time.

I spent driving time just hanging out with God. I didn't even turn the radio on. In fact I cut it off. I really was hoping to get some direction for sure on a couple of things.... didn't happen, but the fellowship time with God was awesome.

I found some neat things. I got a high chair for the grandbaby, and a booster/high char that goes in a chair seat for him. I found 2 sleeping bags a comforter, and a BIG skillet for the RV. One of the most exciting things I got was a box of white, cotton material scraps, these are big pieces. I plan on making cup towels out of them. I am going to cut them then have my learning to sew children learn to pin and then hem them. I think it will be a great exercise in sewing and we will get some wonderful cup towels. I started house keeping with some made out of flour sacks. My aunt made them and painted funny pictures on them. I have one left. It is tattered and torn, but we all still like it.

I also went by the little Wal-mart and spent way to much on flowers. They were having a “Grand Opening” of their garden center. The 6 pks of flowers were 75 cents each! The small pots of geraniums were also 75 cents. Yes, I went a little crazy. I did use great restraint in not buying this beautiful hanging basket of miniature petunias. They were Beautiful! But they were also $15!!!! They didn't have any in the 6 pks to buy and make my own. I should have bought some more hanging baskets. I don't have quite enough. I will get some more next week. My DIL and I got several pots planted. I ran out of potting soil that was in an available place. I bought an new bag today, but........... It was on the bottom of 2000 lbs of milk cow feed. By the time the feed was unloaded we were out of daylight and energy to pot plants. There is always tomorrow! We will do some more then.

It is funny going without my kids. I do it so seldom that people notice. I had one lady at a garage sale ask me where they were. She works at the little Wal-mart. Then one of the ladies at WM ask. She did give me a wonderful compliment on them. She was talking about how well mannered they are. That they are always right with me, while hers run off to the toys, won't listen...... She said, “I have never saw yours do that!”. I agreed! I did tell her that when we got them I refused to go shopping alone with them. They didn't know they were suppose to stay with mom.

Along the lines of what they have learned. MN said something a few minutes ago that shows a lot of maturity. She ask why they use to ask so many stupid questions. I wasn't sure what she was talking about. Finally understood she was meaning why didn't they know know much. Why didn't they realize the questions they were asking were silly. I explained that no one had ever listened to them enough to teach them anything. She thought about it a minute and said “really we were the adults and they were children”. I agreed in lots of ways this was true. After a few minutes she said, “They were the ones that were stupid. We weren't stupid, like they said.” I agreed on that one too. She was then off to get ready for bed. Remember she is ONLY 10!

While I was running away DH and the crew made progress on the freezer. They sorted all the panels then found the ones that were messed up, and the ones that would work to build the freezer. I think they put it together including the top, just not ON the freezer today. Once they had that figured out they took the “broken” ones and cut them to fit the floor of the freezer, where the cement is to go. So next step is pour cement!!!! This is a hire someone job, not a we do it our self part.

He also got some plumbing done in the pump house for the pool. He had to “tweak” his plumbing. He is now ready to plumb the solar panels in, I think. For tonight he is running the pump and sweeper trying to get it clean and ready to swim in. YEA!!! I know the kids would have swam this week if it had been clean. They wouldn't have swam long, but they WOULD have gotten wet.

Hope everyone is having a blessed weekend!

About Me

Just want to share the joys and tears of living in the country with others that understand them both. I am mom to 5 children. Two biological and three adopted. We are praying for one more adopted soon. We live 40 miles from town on 117 acres. My days are full of homeschooling children and dealing with livestock. Life is never dull or boring or "normal" what ever normal is. I ramble on here often, some times more than once a day as this is my main form of socialization with adults during the day. Hope to make some new friends here.
