• Sunday, March 23, 2008 - Rain and Gardening!

What a beautiful Easter morning!   We are WET!  It thunder stormed last night, then this morning it has been a steady slow rain.  We always need rain!   Yesterday we planted almost all of our garden.  I handed out seeds and told them where to plant.  Kids did the work.   It will be interesting to see how well and thick some of the seeds are planted.  I did hear after the fact, "I had one more seed so I planted it ....."  I guess I won't be pulling "weeds" until I can identify them.  We didn't water any of the seeds. I just trusted God would.  Weather said He was going to.  They were right for a change!

My cow is doing good.  She came to the house last night.  She is dry, so 9 months before she has milk IF she bred before this happened.  She is still kind of humpy and stiff, but in many ways her normal grouchy self.

I have lots of milk with the other three, so it really isn't an issue.  I hope to make cheese this week.  I cleaned up all the milk in the frig and started over last week so I wasn't to over loaded, until the end of the week. Then I didn't have time.   I will see what is left after I take milk to Church.   I bet I can do cheese a couple of times this week.

My new dog is doing great!  First morning he thought chickens in the barn were there for him to pluck.  NOT!   By that evening he had pretty well stopped bothering them at all.  He had to learn the same with the ducks.  The peafowl, well they kinda intimidate him.  :)  BIG chickens!   So he hasn't even tried to bother them.   He isn't a kid dog and he isn't a play all time dog.  He spends most of his time laying at my feet.  Yes, that is what I missed.  God is so good!   He loves to be petted and will beg for petting or for scraps.  He likes people food :)    I renamed him.  His name was Buddy, but he didn't really respond to it.  I didn't feel bad changing it.  His name now is MuShadow, kind of a slur of My shadow, which he is.   He barks to go out, and barks to come in.  He may not have been a full time house dog, but he adjusted REAL fast!  I have a feeling he was a full time house dog at some point.   He is "helping" MN get the other kids up right now.  I am sure they will be thrilled!

Time to go play in the mud!  Everyone have a very blessed Easter!

About Me

Just want to share the joys and tears of living in the country with others that understand them both. I am mom to 5 children. Two biological and three adopted. We are praying for one more adopted soon. We live 40 miles from town on 117 acres. My days are full of homeschooling children and dealing with livestock. Life is never dull or boring or "normal" what ever normal is. I ramble on here often, some times more than once a day as this is my main form of socialization with adults during the day. Hope to make some new friends here.
