| Or at least postponed!
We have had almost 1.7 inches of rain since about midnight. Field trip is canceled. Maybe toward the end of the week we can do it. I think the weather is suppose to dry up. Once the sun comes out it doesn't take long for the road to be dry. I am so thankful for this rain. We were very dry. Looking at the radar it is over a wide area of W. Texas. All of which needs rain. I can't wait to see what the pond looks like this morning. It is still dark now. As fast as I type daylight may show up before I post this.
Yesterday was busy. I ran and got feed as soon as chores were done. I was working to beat the rain. It held off all day. Next out of the norm was we ran to a friends to get some baby goats I had bought. She had 6-9 month old milk nannies she wanted to sell. Do you see the sucker stamp on my forehead? Remind me in about a year I wanted them. Maybe 18 months before they kid and I am dealing with milking them and cows. They are cute. All but one are short eared. I will try to get pictures today.
After that our day returned to normal. MJ and I butted heads about school work. He rushed through so he could go ride his new bike. He bought it at the flea market on Sat. I had no problem with rushing through IF he had done it right. He had 4 lessons to do he told me early. Then ask for THREE redo's! His idea is mom will just redo and I don't have to really learn it. I had already warned both of them that this attitude of not applying yourself wasn't going to work. The consequences were going to get worse. It is redoing more, or having to hand write vocabulary words, or write the questions and correct answers to all your missed problems. What ever I think will remind them if they had took the time to do it right to start with they would be now playing, instead of setting and redoing. Yes, I point it out too. They both got up early to get it done, since they are both banned from the barn until school work is caught up. They were very disappointed when It told them field trip was canceled.
I am hoping that my DH ordered the new bird netting to cover the green house/garden. What we had last year was cheap and it showed. It isn't on it now. I would like to plant my garden on Good Friday. That is the “perfect” time to plant here. I still need to find some seed potatoes. Usually I buy them at IGA, but didn't see them last time I was there. Since I don't go as much it is easy for stuff to be there and gone before I make it back in to the store. I do have my seeds to plant. Or most of them. I wonder if my tomato plants are coming up. I am hoping I will have enough volunteer seeds come up to avoid buying any plants. The volunteer plants are much hardier and do better. I haven't mastered growing peppers from seeds so I will be buying them.
Looks like the pond is full!!! It was down 3ft at least! Ducks are happy! The pond ran over. As my DD said, it looks like a flood out there. Not really but there is LOTS of water standing in the low places. I can't wait to see how much water the middle pond caught. It doesn't hold water very well but is extremely deep. It was dry yesterday. Many times I have saw it fill overnight. It is about 15-20 ft deep.
The wind has shifted to the north. It was HOT all night, but now it is down to 50 and that is to be our high today too. I prefer it more like 70 :) but then I am picky. Doing chores in the mud is so much fun! Maybe we should have carried these kids in from the hwy so they could really experience country life. :) Think about it mud around the barn is almost ankle deep after a rain like this. It is full of organic material and sticks like glue to your shoes, making them weight 10 lbs each. If they aren't tied on well, they stay in the mud and you are then bare footed.
Hope everyone has a blessed day. If you took the time to read my ramble, leave a commit. It is fun seeing who and where everyone is. You might also share how you found my blog.
