• Saturday, March 15, 2008 - Baby Sitting and other rambling

Yesterday I baby sat for a friend.  I kept her 8 month old.   She brought her about 7:30 AM.  That meant I had to be creative to get chores done.   How is this for creative?

She LOVED the barn!   Not  a peep out of her other than squealing.   After we got chores done we were off for a picnic lunch.

We had a blast at the park.  I think there were 6 families there.  Lets see, 5, 7, 3,3,5,1,and 4 extras.  I think that's the kid count.  What makes it nice is all the kids of all ages play together and watch out for each other so moms get a break too.  We can really visit.   It was windy and hot but so nice to get to visit and catch up.  I came home wind burned and gritty.  I know gritty wasn't even close to how 2 of mine were.  Did I mention that there is a huge area that is sand?  The dug for "gold".  They covered each other in sand.... and did who knows what else.  The reason only 2 were gritty is one made bad choices.  She had lost an hour of play time for being disrespectful to me on Thur.  Then Friday rolled around and she decided her sister wasn't moving fast enough, or at all and a swift kick in the leg would speed the process up.  My new thing is, "If you can't treat family with respect, then you don't need to play with friends."

What is so funny is she got to talking to a mom about it at the park.  How mean she use to be.  How just totally bad and angry she use to be.  How much she had changes.  She went on to say how glad she was we were her parents and that she knew we wanted the best for her and her consequences were to help her learn.   LOL  Kids, you can't guess what they will say.  Totally shocked my friend.  The mean part is what shocked her.  Especially when I confirmed she was.   That God has done and is still doing  such a work in her heart.

Today we were off to the flea market.  I look fwd to going each month.  I haven't been since I think Nov. The weather has been bad or I had something to do.  So today we went.  I found one good deal.  I got several Louis L"Amour books.  One of them was one that I use to have, but had either worn out or lost.  It is "Down the Long Hills."  I thin MN will love reading it.  I think I have all the rest already, but between my son and I we wear them out.  I know one I got is in the tattered stages of being loved er read to death.  That one is "Comstock Lode".  Other than that I found some stuff I wanted at a garage sale or two.  I finally found a meat slicer.  I want this to slice my bread.   I also found a dehydrator.  It may be to small for what I want to do.  If it is I will pass  it on to a friend who wants one.

Hope everyone has a blessed Sunday!  I can't wait for Church!  Even if I have no clue what I am bringing to eat.

About Me

Just want to share the joys and tears of living in the country with others that understand them both. I am mom to 5 children. Two biological and three adopted. We are praying for one more adopted soon. We live 40 miles from town on 117 acres. My days are full of homeschooling children and dealing with livestock. Life is never dull or boring or "normal" what ever normal is. I ramble on here often, some times more than once a day as this is my main form of socialization with adults during the day. Hope to make some new friends here.
