My day is going great! I am taking a break from unloading feed. I have a ton to unload. That's 40 sacks for those counting. I may have 8 done. I filled the ranger and took them to the barn, Wiggled the ranger into the barn and dumped the sacks in my barrels. It means handling them twice, but the other option is carrying each sack about 10 feet. I am way to lazy for that!!! It really isn't that hard, just time consuming.
I made cheese again yesterday. I "think" I like this cheddar recipe best of any I have tried. At least it is simpler. Only time will tell how it ages. I use about 3 and 1/2 gallons each making. I wish I could come up with a great way to sue the whey. I cook beans in it. The kids really eat those beans better. That takes less than a gallon of the 3 gallons or so I have each time. I may try boiling pasta in it. Shhhhhh that will be our secret until we find out how it taste. The cats and dogs are like, "Whey? What no MILK?" Yes they turn their noses up at it. If I fed my chickens I could soak their feed in the whey. I don't feed my chickens, I feed my goats and the chickens free load.
I really would like to find a baby calf to foster on one or all the cows. Right now my clean up machine is Mocha. This morning I even tested her out on Nosey. LOL Nosey I am pretty sure was holding milk up. Soooo I brought Mocha in and let her have a go. From the slobbers I would say I was right. So far Mocha has nursed every thing but a goat. I figured out why she won't do a goat, it is to low to the ground. Now if I can find a table..... :)
Our weather has been crazy. We are back to sunny and 70 today. Tomorrow 45 is the high. I noticed my peach tree is about to burst forth in pink :( I don't see us making it with out several more freezes. No fruit again this year. Our tiny bits of rain have been welcome. I see a hint of green. The down side of just having tiny bits of rain is that the rain runs off the paved Hwy's and causes the greenest spots to be right beside the roads. This is deadly for the deer and peoples cars if they don't have good grill guards.
My crippled lamb is standing!!! He still walks funny but he is starting to walk on all 4 well 3 legs One back leg I think is broke and will need to heal, but he is improving. Yea!!!! All 4 of my new kid goats are doing well. We ended up with 3 girls and one boy. Three short eared babies and one long eared. If that is confusing the La Macha's have tiny ear flaps, or no ear flaps at all. I have saw a few babies born with one longer ear flap than the other.
I know I had other things I wanted to share....
Oh adoption! It seems I no make that God has stirred the waters in that area again. In talking on a yahoo group I shared my frustration about not getting kids. One of the ladies knew someone that's new job is helping get teens adopted in TX. She gave me her email and we have chatted. That same day I got a phone call from some one else in the higher ups of getting kids adopted. I think it was Adopt US. She ask if she could send our problems and issues to some "higher authority" in TX. I said sure. She said that usually gets results. So we continue to wait and pray. I have gotten several emails on kids I enquired on today. Maybe I squeaked loudly enough. If everyone would just pray that we do God's will in this. In no way our will, but to remove self and our desires and only do God's. That if we adopt that child was chosen by God to be our son or daughter.
Guess that's all for now! All have a blessed day! Go out and bless someone else.
