Our weather has turned cold. We are at 42. It is about noon. This is about as warm as it should get. We have a stiff North "breeze" blowing. Yesterday the kids played at the play day until well after dark without jackets or even being cool. Then about 2 AM we had thunder and lightening, some tiny hail and about .6 of an inch of rain! YEA!!!!! It all soaked in rather fast as it isn't even muddy this morning.
Our play day yesterday was fun, even if the wind was blowing 30 mph. It gave bad hair days a whole new meaning. Not to sure how many showed up. I didn't even try to count all the kids. I know a couple that had planned to come didn't either because of children's behaviour or sick kids. Maybe more can do it next time. Adults had a great time visiting and kids played and played... and ate and ate. :)
I had made two new "dishes" for the play day. I took a basic no bake oatmeal cookie recipe and re worked it to have it healthier. I doubled it. Then I used 1/2 the sugar required, and that was rapadura instead of sugar. I added about 3 times as much peanut butter. Then I used 1/2 the oat meal. For the other half of the oat meal I used a mix of raw pumpkin and sunflower seeds. It was a hit. None left!
I also made jalapeno cheese bread. I used my basic bread recipe. But added chopped jalapenos, crushed red peppers and cheese. MMMMMmmmmm we had the left overs for breakfast with eggs. I will be making it again. My kids liked it. I think it needs more cheese. Oh wait I think everything needs more cheese. It also looked really festive with all the colors :)
Since we were late coming in and I had stupidly separated Noisy and her calf I needed to milk last night at 10 pm. Yea not to smart on my part. I wanted to gentle calf down. So I wanted her to be handled to get to eat. I was very impressed to discover Noisy gave 3 gallons last night. This morning I didn't even try to milk her. She looked empty, and her baby looked rather fat! As we were trying to do chores last night Noisy went in the stanchion and in behind her shot half a dozen goats and lambs. I could just see them being stomped and kicked, but she never moved. Now if it had been the big red cow.... ewww dead goats and lambs. I can see me being able to nurse lambs on her in time. I like doing that... probably because someone said you couldn't.
Any one else like to chat? I keep searching for a good, CLEAN, Christian chat. I may have found it. It is through Guidepost. Here is the link: http://www.ourprayer.org/chatrooms/ They have a prayer time at 10am and 8 pm CST. The rest of the time is just open chat.
I have also gotten hooked on listening to music on line. This site lets you customize the music. http://pandora.com/ Now if I could just get my speakers fixed so it plays all time not off and on. Maybe this week they will "fix" them right.
Life is so amazing! As I type this and multi task my kids inform me that the black La Macha had babies. HUH??? My son bought her back in the winter and discovered she had a nice udder and was fresh. So.... He gave her to me. We figured she had lost babies, not was bred. Down side is that she has been used and didn't get to dry up. Up side is we have colostrum in the freezer to help them get a jump start. She has twins. One with ears one without. MN wondered who daddy was... I assured her it was a goat! :) She came from the sale barn so who knows what daddy looked like other than he was a goat.
I should be doing laundry, but am holding out for tomorrow being warmer... but I want to go to the auction tomorrow so..... maybe I need to do the laundry that I dry in the dryer today and worry about jeans another day. Ok I have no clue how long this post is as I have rambled off and on all morning and it after lunch. Everyone have a blessed day! |
