Meet Steak!   He is the latest arrival to our herd.

Isn't he beautiful?  I showed the picture to my DIL and ask her what color he was.  Her answer was "interesting".   Not sure I ever heard of that color before but she should know.

I think some of you that have been sick passed the bug on to our house.  It had to be over the Internet.  I guess I need to update my virus control.   My baby grandson  and I both started getting sick on either Monday or Tue.  Then my son joined us on Friday.   If son and I could have been sick longer and let grand baby escape it we both would have.   Since Friday all he has wanted to do is be held.  There are more than enough willing arms for that, even arms that really feel yucky can feel yucky and rock a sick baby.   Besides it wasn't like we felt like doing anything anyway.   I started feeling better all day yesterday.  The other two started feeling better last night.  Both were much better today.  I'm glad !  My son needed to work.  DIL and grand baby both went with him as he hauls a load of feed in the 18 wheeler.   :)  How may 6 month olds get to do that?!

This weekend is the Heart of Motherhood Retreat!  YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I am counting down the days, and packing my stuff!   I bought new headphones for my CD player.  I have discovered when I go some place strange I rest better if I have my "noise" so I have a CD of music and new headphones that are awesome!   I was looking for the most comfortable ear bud type I could find.  Since I was at the little Wal-Mart I didn't have many choices.  I ended up going with a set that said it had surround sound.  They just looked comfortable.  I was amazed!  I can put both ear buds in and shut out the world!   I have my batteries charged and ready.

Last night I did test out my CD player.  I couldn't sleep.  Every time I laid down I would start coughing.  That means recliner night.  Dh was still watching TV.  I brought my pillows and blanket to the living room.  Turned the CD player on and covered my head with my pillow.  This is my normal way to use a pillow anyway.  I didn't even know when dh went to bed!   I finally managed to go to bed about 12:00 and sleep fair the rest of the night.  Tonight I am done coughing!  No more!

We are started up a new whole foods co-op.  Well I am not starting it up I am just a member.   But, due to one of the group leaders being overwhelmed with other stuff this month I  was ask to do do on group.    I'm not sure I should have said yes.  We are still working on figuring out how to do it all.  It is a once a month order with a LOT of people ordering.    Once the bugs are out it won't be a big deal, but this is the second month of ordering and we have LOTS of spreadsheet issues and how do you do/?????? issues.   Lots of new people are joining to and so it will keep me hopping this week and next.  Then it will be done.   I loved the dried pineapple from there I got last month.  I want to get apricots this month along with several other things.   I am not a huge order-er.  I love the natural stuff but have a hard time with paying the price for it all.

I am working today at getting laundry done.  I always hang my jeans and such on the line.  Today I'm not sure how well they will stay on the line.  The wind is gusting to over 30 mph.  It is a howling wind.  My wind chimes are banging.   It makes you feel cold even though it is 65 outside already.   Instead of having kids hang clothes I thought they had a better chance of staying on the line if I hung them.   We will see if I did a better job.

I am so proud of my husband.  He is not only keeping our three little ones but offered to keep a friends 13 and 15 yo sons.  Then yesterday another friend ask if he would keep her 5 yo.   He will have a busy weekend!  Good thing is they are all good well mannered kids that can follow instructions and obey.     The 15 yo is only worried about being fed.  Does that sound like a 15 yo boy?  I also know that this 15 yo can cook when he has too.

I have to share a "God will provide" story.  Friday when I was at the grocery store I discovered turkeys were on sale.  They were .29 a lb.  This included 1 turkey breast and butterball turkeys.  I sorta stocked up.  Hey, I don't care if it is Thanksgiving or when we eat bird!   I think I bough 6.  Not bad for me ... really!   There is one slight problem with it though.  We have about 600 lbs of beef that needs freezer space in 2-3 weeks.   We are short freezer space.  My idea is I can cook the turkeys debone them and put them in flat.   I explained that to my dh :)  It seemed to help him feel better about the 6 turkeys.   Then a friend called and ask if I wanted a chest freezer until our walk in gets done.  She had just gotten one off of freecycle!  YEA!!!!   Once the walk in is done I will pass it on to some one else that needs it.

Since I have taken all morning to write this between interruptions I guess I better post it and go change the washer and see if I still have clothes on the line.   Everyone have a very very blessed day!

Steak reminds me of a family who named their rooster "Lunch." They said you shouldn't name an animal anything if you are going to eat it. Jill : )

About Me

Just want to share the joys and tears of living in the country with others that understand them both. I am mom to 5 children. Two biological and three adopted. We are praying for one more adopted soon. We live 40 miles from town on 117 acres. My days are full of homeschooling children and dealing with livestock. Life is never dull or boring or "normal" what ever normal is. I ramble on here often, some times more than once a day as this is my main form of socialization with adults during the day. Hope to make some new friends here.
